Ming didn't turn up to Strasbourg for something like 18 months.

Between your obsessing over SF and now your obsession with Luke Flanagan's attendance record despite being told repeatedly why...

It's almost like you're gunning for an attack from someone to go on the defensive.

By MGQ, I am guessing you mean Máire Geoghegan-Quinn?

She never ran for European Election, nor was ever a commissioner. She was appointed to the European Court of Auditors by the government in 2000 and served for 10 years.

She was also EU Commissioner for Research , Innovation and Science from 2010-2014.

According to RTEs Barry Lenihan, Lynn Boylans vote IS being distributed

It doesn't matter anyways. Daly has moved into 3rd position and Boylans votes will just extend her lead. She got over half of Gary Gannons votes.

Hardly surprising. Left votes stay on the Left

Daly pretty much has the 3rd seat it appears. Andrews in the Brexit seat. Looking like we will be due 4 Dail by elections.

Labour transfers rarely do. But then lefties would say they aren't left!

The gap between Casey and Walsh is (thankfully) widening. On the first count, there were 7,850 votes between them, but on the latest count, that's now gone up to 12,823. Obviously McGuiness's transfers helped Walsh enormously, but it's still very hard to see how he can overtake her. For the first time in my life, I agree with Ming, FG will get two seats here, it's just a matter of time before she's elected.

I was referring to Garry Gannon transferring to Daly

Or a general election that would subsume them...

Also, Smith will overtake him on Rabbitte's transfers (over 70%, apparently).

Anyone else find the RTE coverage of these elections very lacklustre and misdirected?

RTE were out on Friday with the by now infamous exit poll and had all the big name presenters doing shifts throughout Saturday and early Sunday.

However, there was actually very little of note to report across this period.

The "Green Wave" actually turned out to be 1 MEP and 5.6% of Local Election vote share but this was all that they had to talk about on Saturday/Early Sunday.

The interesting stuff has only happened over the last 36-48hrs with the first tallies for the Euros announced and in terms of TV broadcasts we had a really bizarre 9pm news bulletin last night (the presenter struggling through without an autocue) and then Claire Byrne last night meeting the new councillors... but no broadcast from the count centres.

I have been relying on twitter feeds from journalists at the centres... maybe Radio is doing a good job of keeping track of it?

Did RTE News heads think it would all be done and dusted by Sunday?

Was saying similar, really poor show from them but then who is surprised. They should have broadcasts on their news now channel at least.
They had their entire election coverage based on inaccurate exit poll. Apparently Fianna Fail are absolutely raging as it vastly underplayed their performance and overplayed the Greens. FF looking for an enquiry into RTE poll:

    I'm wondering if the

'Majority in favor of a united Ireland' exit poll is as inaccurate?

Kelliher is a dead cert to take a seat here. Wallace will get the second seat, he looks like he'll get the third one.

The other referendum one was accurate.

Yeah I was actually watching saturday morning/afternoon. They didn't have any counts to go off yet they were on for hours and then when they would have started getting some tallys they weren't on air.

    O Sullivan for the 4th?

Why did they eliminate two candidates at once in MNW?

That was a no-brainer and just housekeeping. This one is a bigger challenge.

Throw Malcolm Byrne in there too. You'd have to tip Clune, another hopeless, voiceless politician for it, but the Wexford factor could see Byrne get trannsfers from Doyle. Labour vote will put Clune over the top I expect.

Why did they eliminate two candidates at once in MNW?
Because their total combined vote would not have elected anyone nor allowed candidates to improve their position vis a vis expenses.
