    Hi,

    Looking for some thoughts/help.

Currently selling a property (bought in 2006) and have been asked if the withering levy has been paid.

I contacted the council and they say that it has not been paid and that we are liable.

Has anyone ever heard of it and how am I liable. Original developer has gone bust.

You could go back to the solicitor you used to buy the house and ask them. They should have taken care of that at the time of purchase. This is the basic info on the levy and how it is calculated.

Going back to original solicitor is not an option unfortunately.

The developer sold sites to builders and builder sold house to us.

The council has told us that the Levy hasn't been paid, Is there any comeback?

It doesnt matter who sold the house to you. You had your own solicitor for the conveyance. Go back to them. Or complain to the law society. They should have made sure this was paid.
