Using K.O.Kiki's/ Terrorfirmers previous helpful suggestions as a guide, I've put together below list and would appreciate views.

I already have:

I7-7700

250gb M2 ssd with Win10 installed on it (hopefully no reinstall?)

2TB 3.5" hard drive

GTX1080

PLAN TO BUY

be quiet! - SHADOW ROCK LP 51.4 CFM CPU Cooler for £29.

ASRock - Fatal1ty H270 Performance ATX LGA1151 Motherboard (gone to £142 from £78 today on amazon so will have to wait)

BeQuiet PureBase 600 case (for EUR75)

Corsair - Vengeance LPX 16GB (1 x 16GB) DDR4-3000 CMK16GX4M2B3000C15R for £112

EVGA - SuperNOVA G3 550W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply for £78

Missing anything? Better suggestions (I want reasonably quiet/compact case)?

Also, and excuse my ignorance, my broken pc where I got my current parts from had a big black radiator/heatsink??(not sure!) with copper pipes covering the I7-7700 cpu, do I need to use this again in the new pc or is the be Quiet cooler enough?

And do I need extra fans on top of 2 the case comes with?

Appreciate any advice and, if I run into difficulties, whether anyone in Terenure area might be on hand to assist if necessary!

You wont be able to use this heatsink in your new build as it was proprietary designed for ROG C20. However if you manage this, post some pics - would be nice to see innovative DIY-home-build.

The SHADOW ROCK LP 51.4 CFM CPU Cooler look(and work) great, but see this video to encounter for possible challenges regards RAM/PCIe due to its low profile.

Thanks both.
Apologies for veering off in a slightly different direction, but am still trying to keep system as small as possible and started looking at micro-atx. Appreciate your views on below (I swapped out the memory for a different Crucial ram as I read somewhere that the RGB is not low profile as Smuggler alluded to). Changed psu as looking for as quiet as possible.
And read good reviews on the micro-atx case also.

If you're trying to stay small, go for Riotoro CR1080 case - it fits ATX motherboards but is only 360mm tall (and at 32.62L is smaller than the 36.87L NZXT H400).

The cooler from the ROG could be re-used as it's most likely still based on a standard S1151 mount but only if you want to, and of course if it fits into the new case you pick out.

Only thing i agree here is "S1151 mount".

This heatsink pipes are so low that RAM is laying flat - won't be easy to outsource MoBo with this layout, if at all, other than original.
Second challenge would be cooling fans - where/how to mount them?
Third - intake/output management.

But the shadow rock achieves the same aim yes? I'm not trying to save cash here, more just know whether this item is a requirement, if not I couldn't care less about saving it to use

Yep sorry, didn't realise it was laid out so wide, there'd be no way to realistically mount that ROG cooler in a normal case.

Thanks Smuggler, I have abandoned thoughts of resurrecting the ROG! It's in bits now! p.s. the big double fan (shown in the video you linked), is that any good in a new build or is it proprietary and kaput from my point of view?

That is bundle with heatsink/ROG G20, reusing it might be some challenge.

To update you all, and thanks for your advice to date. I have made my purchases (some changes to advice based on things like getting a motherboard that had slot for my wifi 2230 card etc, and going back to mid tower). Hopefully you will not come back and say I have made a disastrous decision! Hopefully will build in run up to Christmas. I will likely be on here looking for advice!!! Thanks again.

All parts received. Will slowly progress.
Given parts above (and gtx1080 has one fan on it) do I need any more fans/radiators/heatsinks than I've already got? Case has two 120mm fans.

2 fans should do you grand for now; the main barrier to GPU cooling will be simply that it's a blower-style but I wouldn't worry about that.
