Bought a new PS4 slim today, decided to give it the once over before putting away for Santa etc.

Very surprised at this packaging, pictures attached.

    Anyone else found this?

I'm failing miserably at attaching images.

    What’s wrong with the packaging?

Bent manuals wouldn't be abnormal. Was it sealed? Were cables tiewrapped up properly?

I'd expect the manuals packaged as they usually are with the PS4, e.g.

Not stuffed in the top of the box. Yeah the box was sealed and cable ties were present - that's not indicative of anything though is it.

What I want to establish is whether anyone else has experience with this or otherwise. Not interested in unrelated comments such as the **** quality of the photo. If you must know, I had to borrow a phone to take the photo...I don't own a smartphone.

If the box was sealed with a Sony seal, it's fine.

Thanks for that info - was not sealed with a Sony seal. Again I would ask - can anyone confirm that recent PS4 slim packaging uses a custom seal?

I would expect better from Sony.

I would have expected plastic covers on the pins of the electrical plug.

There are loads of "unboxing" product videos out there.

you might find an Irish or UK video.

also there are videos of it turning on for the first time. As it might have an initial setup screen, which may not appear again if used.

EDIT: found what seems to be a UK slim one unboxed, and it does look crap compared to the other video. There is no cover on the plug pins (not on the US either but more common on UK) and manual is even more bent than the OPs. No pull off labels on the controller like the other.

Missing plastic covers on the plug also struck me as unusual, but I have no concrete frame of reference.

Setup screen does reappear after an install alright; TBH I'm not aware of any means of determining whether console was already initialised - equally however haven't looked. I spend 50 hours a week up to my eyeballs in software and am absolutely allergic to touching it outside of work at this stage!

I added a UK video there, you might find others on youtube, just stick UK in the search.

Alright, so I saw several with "nicer"packaging, probably US models. This is exactly what I found:

Fair enough! Question answered - it's shoddy packaging! Thanks for pointing me towards that rubadub.
