Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. I guess even Meatloaf had to draw a line somewhere

It would get lost for one thing!

Regarding that song though, it's not confusing at all - the structure of the song lists lots of things he'll never do, or never say and then says "I'd do anything for love, but I won't do that". THAT being what he just referenced.

    For example:
I'll never forget the way you feel right now
    - I'd do anything for love, but not that.

    Or:
I'd never lie to you and that's a fact
    etc.

Actually quite a sweet song and I love the female part near the end, kill for that girls' voice!

It might have been mentioned here already but Phil Lynnott's rhyming of "Poor Romeo" being "all on his own-eo" is pretty bad

    Jeez what a criminal lyric.

Big Girls Don't Cry - Fergie
So much wrong with one song but what I have highlighted what does my head in. It's just so stupid.

Like the little school mate in the school yard
We'll play jacks and Uno cards
I'll be your best friend, and you'll be mine
    Valentine
Yes, you can hold my hand if you want to
'Cause I want to hold yours too
We'll be playmates and lovers, and share our secret worlds
But it's time for me to go home
It's getting late and dark outside
I need to be with myself and center
    Clarity, peace, serenity

I hope you know, I hope you know
That this has nothing to do with you
    It's personal, myself and I
We've got some straightenin' out to do
And I'm gonna miss you like a child misses their blanket
But I've got to get a move on with my life
It's time to be a big girl now
    And big girls don't cry

It's all to do with the female part near the end:

Will you raise me up? will you help me down?
Will you get me right out of this godforsaken town?
Will you make it all a little less cold?

    I can do that
    I can do that

Will you cater to every fantasy I got?
Will you hose me down with holy water, if I get too hot?
Will you take me places I've never known?

    I can do that
Oh no, I can do that

I know the territory, I've been around
It'll all turn to dust and we'll all fall down
Sooner or later you'll be screwing around

    I won't do that
    No, I won't do that

    Anything for love
    But I won't do that

I haven't changed my mind though - Steinman's lyrics are generally rather ****e!

Dunno, I do know that that track was No. 4 in the Irish charts and 14 in the UK from an album that was a hit record for the band though.

And another thing. Lions don't live in the jungle. They'd never be able to catch anything with all the trees and vegetation in the way.

My contribution from one of my favourite bands. Deep Purple's "Black Night"
    Black night is not right
    I don't feel so bright
I don't care to sit tight
Maybe I'll find on the way down the line
That I'm free, free to be me
Black night is a long way from home

    I don't need a dark tree
    I don't want a rough sea
    I can't feel, I can't see
Maybe I'll find on the way down the line
That I'm free, free to be me
Black night is a long way from home

    Black night, black night
    I don't need black night
    I can't see dark light
Maybe I'll find on the way down the line
That I'm free, free to be me
Black night is a long way from home

Can I take your order please?

    Let's eat to the beat

    [Chorus]

You like it you love it
You know you really want it
    The voices I hear
    Whenever you're around

I want it I need it
    Nothing else can beat it
    Hot and spicy
Whenever I'm in town (mmm mmm)

    Enticing exciting
    Aroma so inviting
    And when it hits
Me, I wanna take you home

    Trust me you must see
Just what you're doing to me
    Driving me crazy
    Hungry to the bone (bone)

I think of you and lick my lips
    You've got the taste I can't resist
    Can't resist can't resist can't resist
    Let's eat to the beat

    [Chorus x2]

Would you like that to go?

    Any sauces?

You're so sweet and you're neat
You knock me off my feet
    You're chunky and hunky
I'm coming back for more (Hot Dog and burger)

    Your taste all embraces
    I gotta sing your praises
    Just savor the flavors
    Waiting at your door

I think of you and lick my lips
    You've got the taste I can't resist
    Can't resist can't resist
    Let's eat to the beat

    [Chorus x2]

    Does anyone fancy a shake?
    Shake
    Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh
Shake it to the left shake it to the right let's shake
    Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh

I think of you and lick my lips

"How do we cram as many Africa references into this song as possible?"

Oh and Kilimanjaro is hundreds of miles from the Serengeti, not visible, never mind towering.

Oh and Kilimanjaro is twice the height of Mount Olympus, poor analogy. Unless they meant Olympus Mons on Mars, which I doubt.

    Still a class song

Olympus mons would be an even worse analogy. Its slope is barely discernible from it's base because it is so wide.

    I'm a firestarter, twisted firestarter
    You're the firestarter, twisted firestarter
I'm a firestarter, twisted firestarter starter

Love the beat but 8 songwriting credits is taking the piss (includes Trevor Horn, Paul Morley and Anne Dudley)

Keith Flint wrote the lyrics. All other songwriting credits are there due to Liam Howlett sampling bits from other songs like "Close to the Edit" by Art of Noise, "S.O.S" by The Breeders and "Devotion" by Ten City. I can guarantee you that all other credits are to people connected to these other groups.
