Secondary schools and moving house

We are moving next year from Swords probably to either Firhouse/Tallaght direction. Lucan is also a possibility. What I don't understand is secondary schools and catchment areas. The kids are only 6 and 2 but if we are moving I guess I need to figure this into things. Can anyone offer an explanation or recommend schools…
