Could anyone tell me where can I find where I listed my competencies when I applied for tco position as I was told that I will be asked about them in my interview, thanks.

The competencies listed in the familiarisation info are:

    • Delivery of Results including Managing and Processing Information
    • Teamwork, Customer Service & Communication Skills
    • Specialist Knowledge, Expertise and Self Development
    • Drive & Commitment will be assessed throughout the interview.

It also says "Stage 2 will comprise of a competitive interview. To qualify, candidates must reach the qualifying standard in each competency. Panels of qualified candidates will be formed per location choice after Stage 2- Competitive Interviews."

Just to follow on - have a few current or recent examples which shows how you used/worked each of the competencies
The interview is really no more than 15 - 20 mins and it is simple enough. The interviewers are on a time schedule so they will guide you so you dont waffle.
    Good Luck!

Thanks so much for the advice, first time for both tco and co interviews, not sure how public sector interviews works.

Hi Just checking has anyone from Limerick been called for interview yet?

  • Registered Users Posts: 12 Spreefeet

I'm in Roscommon and called to interview in letterKenny as well on March 1,it's easier to get to Dublin. Anyone know why it changed from Longford.

My interview in Letterkenny, next Monday, was cancelled, also a few friends who were called..all cancelled. We were called from Co. Cavan

  • Registered Users Posts: 12 Spreefeet

My interview cancelled as well, maybe common sense prevailed.

what you mean by common sense?

  • Registered Users Posts: 12 Spreefeet

Meant takng us to letterKenny when there are nearer places is nonsensical. Can get to Dublin quicker than I can get to letterkenny.

Anyone called for interview in Waterford yet?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,934 ✭✭✭✭fin12

My friend who’s in the 90s for cork was called for interview. My brother who’s in the top 10 for cork hasn’t been called for interview but he put down only available for the summer, so I think they are calling people who put down available all year round first.

    Guys,
My Reference is not on headed paper..the manager who wrote the reference from my last job has moved on. do they really make an issue about headed paper?

I had the same issue last year, I emailed my supervisor for a reference and she sent my reference back to me not on headed paper. I explained it to them at the interview and they went off and checked and said it wouldn't be an issue.

    Thanks for that :)

Anyone that had a PCO interview in mid January heard anything yet?

I know they take a long time to decide about hiring people, but I haven't heard a thing since end of January when I was sent out my scores from the Stage 3 interview.... I got on pretty well in it so hoping for a positive response from them. Going out of my mind waiting!!!!

    Thanks

Great thanks. Would you mind me asking what department? Just curious so no need to say if you don't want to!

I would prefer not to mention the department by name but it is a big one that normally takes on lots of TCO staff each year. I was placed there before, it is ok.

Do they actually ask for references? Someone I know who got it before said they didn’t ask him

Yes they do - or should do.

If they didnt ask for them at the time they would have asked for them at a later stage.

I am guessing that your friend should not have received a contract without a ref of some sort.

By any chance anyone still in the Civil Service for DEASP have a number to contact peoplepoint? Their website isn't accessible from home and my Contract ended in January, I'm still waiting for my unused holiday allotment pay as well as pension from my last TCO contract. And I'm having trouble finding any way to contact them to see what is happening.

No help with the contact information, just wanted to say when my last tco position ended, it took roughly 4 months to receive my pension contributions.

Could anyone answer my question. If you select the option available all year on the temporary clerical officer application and you are actually a student not finished until the end of May is it possible to defer a job. The person is being interviewed tomorrow. I thought if you were a student there was a different option to select but my friend who’s the student disagrees.

Technically you are supposed to be able to take up employment within 2 weeks of being called, if you refuse, you are off the panel. However, I have heard of people asking to be put further down the panel than they’re oom so as to be called at a later date. It’s not a given that it’ll work tho...
