Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hi I have a free standing stove and needs to be insulated - I asked a fire place guy - he said it would cost 1000 and he would do the following:

You will need a flexible flue put into your chimney and a closure plate fitted above the fire and the insulation removed.
    Flexi flue kit €450
    Closure plate €100
    Fitting €450

1000 to me sounds a lot for a stove already installed. What do you think ?

I've recently(1month ago) fitted a stove in the existing open fireplace.

    cost:
    stove(4kw one) - 250
    flexi flue pipe(904 steel grade) 9 meters - 280
top flue hat - 65 euro
flexi flue to stove pipe adapter - 35
    closure plate - 50
    50x50 black slate inside fireplace - 30
    30cm stove pipe - 29euro

    total: 739 euro for parts.

I've installed it as a DIY with the help of a neighbor.

I think 1000 to refit an already existing stove is high.

Hope the above will give you an estimation of the costs involved. Maybe add an extra 450-500 for labor(consider this to be top price).

And for the above it took a day of work for a non professional.

    Including removing existing open fireplace.
