Mulvaney, late of the CBO and the CFPB, water-carrier for the so-called Freedom Caucus, now acting Chief of Staff: https://www.thedailybeast.com/trump-announces-mick-mulvaney-as-new-chief-of-staff?ref=scroll

This ought to be interesting. Mulvaney's big on hiding from the press, in this job he'll have a lot more visibility. I give him 6 months tops, though to be fair I expect the WH to start ignoring DC and focusing on the 2020 campaign, it's where creepy Nick Ayers went.

He also knows the type of guy he is going to work for...

Poor guy has shingles, causing facial paralysis. If you can, get the shingles vaccine (there's a new, even more effective one in the US called 'shingrix' that's 90% effective, where the current one, available in Ireland, is less.) My brother and the wife's cousin both suffer from it, recurring bouts of shingles that get worse as you get older.

It's misery when it flares up. There's anecdotal evidence that suicide due to shingles and the pain side-effects is a contributor to the lowering of life expectancy in the US in white males.

Wow didnt realise Painter had that. My mother got shingles going through chemo and suffers years later from neuralgia. Horrible.

Im not sure to what extent Painter was involved in the Bush' foreign policy but I really like him. I follow him on Twitter and he's one of Trumps most colourful and articulate critics. A longtime Republican he switched ovet to the Dems and even ran for a Senate nomination. I was disappointed he didnt have a better showing in that one.

Another one of the best people is leaving the Trump administration before the end of the year. The interior secretary ryan Zinke is leaving.

CNN fact check on Trump's claims, and Pelosi's, in his meeting with the Dems.

So who will be the next director of the O.M.B, as it's so beloved by Don, and is his choice a way to put a great person in charge of it who will fit the bill for him and his friends in the Senate?

Interesting that the best Trump can now get for chief of staff is someone who referred to Trump as a terrible human being and only voted for him because he hated Hilary more. One wonders how many more suitable choices Mulvaney thinks there are for US president than Trump and if he will even make it into office after this. His boss has a very fragile ego.

Acting Chief of Staff, that means his word won't carry any weight with staff, a lame duck starting.

That seems very true. So why was he appointed?

He happened to be in the White House for an unrelated meeting and had the bad luck to run into Trump.

So with the word Acting removed he'd actually have power ? I mean the WH Chief of Staff used to be one of the most prized job in Washington and now it's like the monkey in the film Outbreak.

Some were doubting that he would actually appoint a new CoS . Perhaps it his version of not doing it .

I know, it's just humor, but last night's SNL cold open is just a scream. "It's a Wonderful Trump" - Trump in a world where he wasn't elected president.

One would wonder has he the skill set to be POTUS? But then look at the present guy.

The challenges are going to be huge. Putin will have to be dealt with. Big data. Partisanship/disunity in US. Climate change management. And the .1% at the top have to be tackled to reduce inequality. Election manipulation.
The democrats must pick the person best equipt with doing the job and work their asses off to get them elected.

Mueller has been fighting a big big fish in court since September.
On Friday a whole floor of the DC courthouse was closed to protect the identity of the witnesses lawyers. Trump's team have denied its him. Pence would demand this sensitivity. The feeling is though that it may be related to the Wikileaks conspiracy. There is another person that fits... Rebekah Mercer.

She funded Trump, has funded Bannon, Kelly Anne Conway for years, ran Cambridge Analytica, Co owner of Breitbart news, Ran the Heritage foundation, funded the author of 'Clinton Cash' and movie.. etc etc.

    https://edition.cnn.com/2017/10/25/politics/cambridge-analytica-julian-assange-wikileaks-clinton-emails/index.html
Alexander Nix, the chief executive of Cambridge Analytica, sent an email to several people including top Donald Trump donor Rebekah Mercer, relaying that he had emailed Assange seeking access to emails from Clinton's private server to turn them into a searchable database for the campaign or a pro-Trump political action committee, two of the sources said.

    https://www.wsj.com/articles/mueller-sought-emails-of-trump-campaign-data-firm-1513296899
Mueller ordered Cambridge Analyitca to turn over the emails of any empoloyee who worked on the Trump Campaign. That would include Rebekah Mercer (see point above)

    https://democrats-intelligence.house.gov/uploadedfiles/final_-_minority_status_of_the_russia_investigation_with_appendices.pdf
She is listed as a witness for the House Intel committee minority to investigate before Nunes closed it down.

    And the big one:
    https://www.spectator.co.uk/2018/06/what-does-the-british-government-know-about-trump-and-russia/

    https://www.spectator.co.uk/2018/06/what-does-the-british-government-know-about-trump-and-russia/
Then there’s Cambridge Analytica. The (now shuttered) British company did the Trump campaign’s data. Its speciality was ‘microtargeting’: individual messages tailored to individual voters, delivered by email, Facebook and Twitter. The US intelligence agencies believe that Russian internet ‘troll factories’ were also pushing out pro-Trump propaganda on social media: sometimes fake news, sometimes real news, such as the hacked contents of Clinton’s emails. The question is whether this was done in coordination with the Trump campaign. An American lawyer I know told me that he was approached by a Cambridge Analytica employee after the election. They had had the Clinton campaign emails more than a month before they were published by WikiLeaks: ‘What should I do?’ Take this to Mueller, the lawyer replied.

If Cambridge Analytica had those emails a month before Wikileaks released them then they conspired with Wikileaks. If the reason was to either prepare Cambridge Analytica to strategise the propagation of the information after the dump or even to advise wikileaks on what to dump when then this is as serious as it gets. The person who would have coordinated this at CA would have been Mercer in my opinion. It may not be here in that court. But I feel she is in trouble.

If you look at this axis's attempts to thwart democracy in the US, Brexit, France, Netherlands, Brazil etc. Mercer is at the same level as Putin, a layer above Trump.

^ Because it's speculative, some might dismiss that as 'fake news'.

If you go back and read demfad's posts stretching back nearly 3 years on Trump / Russia / Brexit, you'd be more inclined to see it as extremely plausible.

He wants to take all the comedians on TV to court, for mocking him, deluded.

Without checking, I'm fairly confident the issue of comedians mocking public figures has been tested in court. But hey, we all know this, and I daresay even most of Trumps supporters. But why let facts - or indeed literally the first constitutional amendment - get in the way of a good victim complex? For the most powerful man in the world, his thin skin seems the most fragile.

Wouldn't even mind, but the standard of satire in SNL is garbage; an episode of Samantha Bee might cause him an actual heart attack if he's ruffled that easily. Or indeed an average episode of Have I Got News for You in the UK.

But if he says grab them by the pussy, Mexicans are rapists and drug dealers, sh*thole countries and anything else basically racist, sexist, stupid, ignorant and deluded, his supporters would be the first one to scream "Free Speech!".

Does anyone know what Giuliani's playing at? I don't really buy the excuse that he's a drunken fool who can't control what he says but maybe he is. In any case, here he is admitting to collusion.

Some time ago, they could pretend that they thought the Russia thing was a Democrat hoax or praise his North Korea strategy. Now the evidence is a bit overwhelming that the Russia investigation is actually a real thing and that Trump got played by KJU. I still expect to see more "but Hillary" stuff, though. It's all they have left and it's in infinite supply.

    Narcissist's Prayer

    That didn't happen.
And if it did, it wasn't that bad.
And if it was, that's not a big deal. (Rudy is here)
And if it is, that's not my fault. (Trump is here)
And if it was, I didn't mean it.
    And if I did...

    You deserved it

They got his written answers. They haven't cleared matters up, it would appear. Again, no surprise.

Best issue the subpoena and have it determined ASAP.
