Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

boiler losing water pressure

I have an ideal boiler s28 or s24 I think

at the start of November I had come back from being away for a week boiler came on but didn't fire so no heat or hot water.

I rang BGE as I have a contract with them - engineer called said I had no pressure and I topped up with water and pressure rose.

I had done this previously in September - and given that the top up was so recent suggested I may have a leak - nothing was done to the boiler during the call out. I contacted a plumber who I know and no leak apparent - topped up the system to 1 bar when boiler off - this was last week - a week on the pressure when off is now down too 1/2 a bar - any advice as to what I should do next as surely I shouldn't have to top up so frequent. Thank you

    Was expansion vessel checked?

Top up to 1 bar cold, turn on boiler for a couple of hours and check and record pressure every half hour.

Expansion vessel check - would that of been the job for the plumber? if so probably not.

With the problem that you described it should be one of the first things to check, but he might have just checked for flow from the pressure release valve or watched for rising pressure as the boiler heated up. If both of those were ok, then it's most likely that vessel is ok.
