Anybody any experience of package going from in transit to in depot, 2 days later in transit, but no out for delivery or attempted delivery slips. Is this just going to be returned to sender?

It's been in Dublin and the delivery is Dublin so not sure of the second in transit.
    Any info would help.

    Thanks

I have two parcels showing up as "in transit" from the Dublin 12 parcel hub. There hasn't been any update on either parcel since Wednesday.

I have a parcel in the Dublin depot since Tuesday that hasn't moved.
It's on an ExpressPost guaranteed next-day delivery service...

I know it's busy at this time of year, but this is shockingly bad service.

Also have a package "In Transit", can I assume we have all bought from Amazon? Mine is a phone, I dont feel confident that Amazon have even sent it yet!

Will give it until tomorrow before I start chasing it!

I finally got through to AnPost. They have long delays with Parcels. For example Amazon told me that I would definitely get a package to or tomorrow. An Post say more like 5 days as they haven't even received it yet.

Be wary if you plan to leave it late to order stuff.`

AnPost say it's longer than that. I am awaiting an item to post on as a present. My deadline is Thursday & it was due here Monday. I have been told it could take 5 to 7 days from now.

Apparently they have a big backlog as the Black Friday orders have arrived.

I am just annoyed with Amazon because they liaise daily with AnPost & could of been honest. I would of cancelled the order if I had known that it would take them 4 days to dispatch. I was quoted 4 days for delivery to me when I ordered.

Theyve potentially lost mine with them as it's either delivered to wrong address (Dublin instead of Cork) or been mislabeled on Track and Trace so no one has any idea where it is. Spent about 20 mins waiting on the phone earlier

I was expecting an amazon delivery today. I got an update to say there could be a 24-48hr delay. Tracking had the item in the an post Dublin hub. I Really need this before Christmas. An post are shocking for efficiency

I've one from Adidas instead of Amazon and they've either delivered to wrong address (says delivered to Dublin 13 on their site) or mislabeled it on Track and Trace so they don't know where it is.

If it's showing on tracking you should be OK.

Package lost on me as well ... have no idea where it’s gone. Was showing in hub (Dublin) and then out for delivery and then got alert saying it was delivered.
Unfortunately they don’t seem to know where it’s gone... man on phone said it had gone to Galway..I am in Laois...

My first item arrived the 48hours late as I was advised by Amazon. Few more bits to come. Won’t be ordering anything more.

Mine just went from Portlaoise to out for delivery and delivered in Dublin. If it was delivered wrongly, would wonder why someone would keep it.

I am hoping it’s just glitch in the system...the man on the phone mentioned it was happening to a few people today.

I got the same email, delivery originally due today according to Amazon but tracking doesn't even register on an Post website yet. I contacted Amazon an hour or two ago to query and they insisted it would arrive today before 8pm but I know that's not happening.

The Amazon support have gone to the absolute dogs. If I have to take to another Amir or aknina or whatever they're calling themselves.....

Last time I'll bother with Amazon, just not worth the hassle.

I have 8 different parcels that were due to be here last Thursday! Got text from an post to say 3 items would be delivered last Thursday, still nothing??
Its crazy, but they are all for xmas so not to much of a panic at moment!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,934 ✭✭✭✭Discodog

I was told by Amazon that AnPost collect items from them. I still don't know if this is true as Amazon have blatantly lied to me recently

    Really?

I’m in Kildare and get deliveries from amazon every week with 99% success rate on time to delivery.

I understand that orders multiply around this time but An Post have been far more consistent on delivery times compared to other couriers in Ireland

I would agree. I haven't had problems like this before even at Christmas. I suspect that Black Friday caused the problem.

I agree with this..never had a problem up till now and an post have been better overall than other delivery options. I might be lucky but all my amazon order have been fine.

I have to agree, this is the first time I have really had any problems with an post! I get from Amazon a few times every month and an post always deliver on the agreed day!

I’ve have 2 parcels “lost” in the last week.
Both were dirverted by me to the post office And both bounced around the system and ended up back at amazon.

I have an Amazon package lost also in the past week. Tracking shown as delivered but it wasn't delivered to my home. Something strange on the tracking was this entry:

    "CUSTOMER REQUEST ACCEPTED"

one minute before the delivery. I've never seen it before. I wonder have An Post temporary staff in pilfering in the run up to Christmas?

I'm waiting on a parcel for 9 days and counting (Express Post next day delivery guaranteed!)

It's been in Dublin Parcel Centre since the 27th. Waited 25 minutes on their customer service line today to be told it will hopefully be delivered in the next 3-4 days...

That's a bit unacceptable really. I thought mine was bad, but that's crap, although at least you know where it is, I suppose.

Probably end up having to go to an actual shop now and buy what I needed as even if they did find it, i won't have it by Friday based off people here. Bit of a disaster since I bought it on the 23rd of November.

Still waiting on my parcel sent on the 26th.

I've never had such terrible service from any delivery company.

    They make Fastway look professional!

I have stuff ordered for Christmas (kids) products I can’t get from a shop here...
I don’t mind if they are late but I definitely don’t want them going missing.
    Some specialists items...

I was in the local depot last night. The guy at the counter was going mad, so many Amazon customers have been told their parcel is ready for collection. An post have no idea why or where the packages are...

Thing is it seems to be just amazon deliveries going walk about for me. Ordered stuff from other uk websites and all were delivered ok.
Speaking to An post yesterday it seems people are getting Notifications to collect items that can’t be found.
I had 4 items to be delivered to day as in got Notification that they were out for delivery and suddenly they are pushed back on amazon till Friday and the tracking number is no longer active.. how can an active tracking number suddenly disappear?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,146 ✭✭✭homer911

I had to wait 6 days for a parcel to make its way from Portlaoise to Dublin

You're right, definitely an Amazon issue. I collected eBay stuff yesterday.

I have an eBay GSP parcel missing also,

Tracking info says it arrived with an post friday last, got an AP tracking number - but it isn't recognised :(

    They make Fastway look professional!

Not a chance - people have simply given up complaining on Fastway.

An Post got over 400,000 packages from Amazon last week. A huge amount of them only arrived on Thursday and Friday due to storms causing shipping chaos on the Irish sea.

How it works is Amazon pick/pack & put an post labels on all parcels. They then ship them from various UK warehouses directly to An Post Dublin distribution centres.

Problem is Amazon say its been dispatched as soon as it leaves their depot, but An Post can do nothing until it gets to them and trucks that should have got there on Tuesday/Wednesday, got to An Post on Thursday / Friday and this threw their systems out as they had it planned for the volume to arrive 2 days previously.

Their planning went as far as requesting their three major bulk mailing customers to hold off sending end of month statements until Friday. (these 3 would do most mailing for all banks, utilities etc. so volume is huge)

But this meant Friday saw a deluge.

BTW - its the same with DPD and other carriers, yet some people still think that with multiple levels of volumes that a next day service is still possible. Geez!

Mine was sent on the 26th, before the Amazon delivery. It's been sitting in Dublin 12 for 10 days, no sign of movement.

A day or two delay is acceptable at this time of year, over a week is not.

3 parcels arrived this morning two from Amazon and one from eBay...Amazon a week late and eBay arrived before estimated delivery time. Amazon orders still showing as in Dublin hub. Still missing the one that went to Galway.

Not really buying into the whole "Amazon's fault" line. My package is missing between AddressPal Hatfield and Home. I have the notification it was recieved, and then nothing.

Mrs Nut had an amazon order due fo delivery on 03/12, signed for delivery due to value of items. Tracking Poped up on Monday saying parcel delivered and signed by S. Kelly.

She was having a panic because there is no S.Kelly living at our address or any house close by, low and behold when I landed home from work there was the parcel sitting in full view after just being thrown into the porch. Any passing nerdowell could have just lifted the parcel and gotten a head start for the Christmas shopping. I woder how an post / amazon would have dealt with it if the lad looking to clean the gutters managed to aquire it from the porch?

This happens every year between black Friday & Christmas eve. I'd expect it to be worse this year because an post now handle all amazon prime orders. This would be a huge increase on last year

Had a similar case today, doorbell was rang and before I got to the door (<minute), the parcel was left at the porch and the postie was off on his van. Parcel wasn't valuable, but I would rather they took it back to the depot for pickup, rather it being left unattended.

I have a few things from Amazon (with Prime) that were initially due last Monday, but now saying "December 4th-13th". They're Christmas presents for adults, so not a big deal with the delay, but if it was something urgent it could be very annoying.

yes, I am annoyed as ordered something required urgently on 30th Nov and its showing delivery date 4-12th now(changed this morning).

It's back Friday post. Nothing an post can do when they've been landed with a massive back log of packages.
