Can anyone recommend a good mattress protector for a child? Have been through a couple and didn't find them much good.

I like the small mat-like ones that sit on the mattress, easy to wash and dry, and v effective - IF - my child is lying in the right spot! Doesn't always happen naturally but it's a spare.

We love the Velfont matress protectors, they have a soft brushed cotton finish and are not at all "crinkly" like some waterproof sheets. We use these on top of a separate quilted mattress protector from Ikea .

    Available from Arnotts here

Would you really need both? Or are you being extra cautious?

Just extra cautious - we had the quilted protectors already, so have kept using them.

Ikea do full size waterproof mattress protectors, like fitted sheets,if you are around there.
They are thick and the tops have a material lining on them.We had Clevamama ones for the cot, I believe they do bed ones too.

We use the Ikea one, just the mat type one and it's good, washes & dries really well.
