    Hi Cookiepus,

Thanks for getting in contact with us and I apologise about the delays.

Unfortunately, the only way to unlock an Apple phone is to contact Apple directly. The phone will then lock to whatever network the new SIM card is connected to.

    Sigh..
    Thanks for your reply

Unfortunately you are contradicting both what it says on your own website
and what it says on apple support

    https://www.eir.ie/support/mobile/prepay-mobile-contract-faqs/

How can I unlock my prepay phone so that I can use it on another network?

You will need to request an ‘unlocking code’ from us.

This code removes a restriction from your phone and allows you to use a SIM from any network. To get an unlocking code, you’ll have to meet the criteria below.......

    ____________

    Over at apple support... (https://support.apple.com/en-ie/HT201328)

How to unlock your iPhone for use with a different carrier

Your iPhone might be locked to your carrier. Unlocking your iPhone means that you can use it with different carriers.

Apple can't unlock your iPhone for use with a different carrier.

Only your carrier can unlock your iPhone.

See if your carrier offers unlocking. Only your carrier can unlock your iPhone.
Contact your carrier and request an unlock.

Your account might need to meet requirements for unlocking. After you submit the request, it might take a few days to complete. To get your request's status, contact your carrier.
After your carrier confirms that they unlocked your iPhone, follow the steps below.......

    Dear Diary
Requesting an unlock code from Eir - Day 13

Well Kellie from Eir support disappeared after posting the rubbish above on Friday last.

But then i got an email (yes it does exist - kinda) from eir customer care.
    asking for my EMIE etc
i replied with same when i received it last week.
    I got no reply
Today i thought id follow up - to see if the unlock code has been requested from apple at least.
    This is what came back......

Delivery has failed to these recipients or groups:

    customercare@eirmobile.ie

Your message can't be delivered because delivery to this address is restricted.

    so this is now
    • phone calls
    • emails
    • using the eir webchat
    • and finally messages here on boards
All for a simple unlock request

Save yourselves people - avoid Eir
