Tough watch so far nothing really going right today.
Lots of errors no real rythm either constant stop start.
That wind is causing havoc for both sides.

Hope the second half improves because that was just awful.

    That was a tough watch

The amount of errors and mistakes by Munster is ridiculous. Watching on the phone in work mind, but 4 knock-on's, 3 forward passes, kicking out on the full twice...They need to vastly improve, as one mistake and castre could get 7 points

Missed the first 25 minutes :(

Can we put this Scannell's educated left peg thing to bed? If my foot was as "educated" as his, I would never kick a ball! I've lost count of the amount of times he's kicked in on the full, but this one is new, not actually kicking out on the full, when you need to kick out on the full.

Things not clicking yet..some silly individual errors... but could very likely score 4 trys in the second half if the errors are eliminated.

Phew Munster needed that early doors if they are to get the bonus

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,875 ✭✭✭budhabob

From a poor scrum decent try by scannell.

Arnold has been very quiet in the first half, hope to see more of him this half

Niall Scannell off, was that for an injury?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,433 ✭✭✭✭thomond2006

Well that knock-on by Murray sums it up nicely.

Murray not looking match sharp. Box kicking has been mixed as well as that knock on

Beirne just completely bullied off a ruck there, no point crying to the ref Tadhg.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,171 ✭✭✭letowski

Munster look poor coached/prepared. There are no runners coming around with depth to beat Castres blitz defense. I guess we just take the 4-0 and move on.

In fairness Castres are bullying Munster full stop. Doesn't bode well for the return leg

    Castres are woejus.

If Munster score another try in the next 5mins the BP is still on. Castres will fold like a deck chair.

JJ has had a good game today, but I'd like to see Blyendaal get 15 mins at 10

    Great stuff from Murray

    The Stander Express!

Finally a bit of guile and class!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,875 ✭✭✭budhabob

Murray has looked rusty today.....but that was one hell of an offload for CJs try

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

That's all that was needed. Hang onto possession and Castres will fall away. History would back Munster to score two more from here.

Great kick by JJ under pressure, but talk about a Scrappy game

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,300 ✭✭✭✭razorblunt

Poor from Doyle, he calls leave it repeatedly at 21, who then stands up in the ruck taking two Munster lads out, a back comes in off his feet right in front of him and he's just not interested.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,875 ✭✭✭budhabob

Some pick up off the ground by the bigan Loughman leading to that try

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,300 ✭✭✭✭razorblunt

Well the return game in France will be a friendly enough affair.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,619 ✭✭✭eigrod

Looked to be a couple of borderline forward passes in there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,433 ✭✭✭✭thomond2006

Plenty time to get the fourth. An awful first half but considering the late call ups Munster have done well.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,529 ✭✭✭Paul Smeenus

Is there some kind of directive about not bothering with forward passes? Scarlet /Ulster was the same.

Yup. Thought he would've went up.

    Why kick that away?

Pretty certain the last one to JJ went forward

JP warning Conway that anymore afters and he's gone?

Has to be a penalty try. Conway's been guilty of that before.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,529 ✭✭✭Paul Smeenus

    Conway braindead.

Didn't realise Stringer had become a touch judge.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,658 ✭✭✭Kanrith

I'd rather a penalty try so Munster can get back in their half.

  • Registered Users Posts: 837 ✭✭✭Subpopulus

    Yellow for Conway on 78mins.

    Could be a game changer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,300 ✭✭✭✭razorblunt

A microcosm of the game right there.

  • Registered Users Posts: 837 ✭✭✭Subpopulus

Well that kick to touch was wierd

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,529 ✭✭✭Paul Smeenus

That is criminal of Munster not to get five against that utter shambles.

    Kockett is some whinger.
Soccer style reaction for Conway's contact, and just constantly moaning. Shoving people after scoring their own try now too.
    Seems a total knob.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,300 ✭✭✭✭razorblunt

Well Kockett needs to be turned inside out next week.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,433 ✭✭✭✭thomond2006

    Munster 11
    Gloucester 8
    Castres 5
    Exeter 3

Conway was saying he wanted more cards I think

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 224 ✭✭Stout Warrior

Cloete would have been my MOTM

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,846 ✭✭✭shootermacg

Kinda annoying not to get the bonus to be honest.

Next week is going to be fun!!

Doyle is a joke of a ref... how many penos did castre give away in that game (i lost count) no cards not even a warning.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

Why on earth did Matthewson kick it away? And why did JJH take 30 seconds over a completely irrelevant conversion?

I would hate to be a Castres fan. Absolutely no intelligence...or they have no belief they can progress? Why would they not just kill the game and kick it dead rather than go for a try at the end? Would have served them right if Munster pinched the intercept and went the length.

Munster need to show some more guile than they did today but it was a solid enough run out given a couple of injuries. It's a peculiar situation where they'll be happy with the scoreline but a little deflated they couldn't get the 4th. Fancy them for a big showing next week though.

Gloucester the big winners in the pool this weekend.

Pen count is 8-13. Not a huge count really.
