Not as a crewcab they weren’t. Even the passenger one wasn’t that much IIRC

The V8 later model was around that I think.

I don’t think the “crew cab” thing/loophole was available in 2005? Seem to remember they were around the 100 k mark new, the Amazon. They were hugely expensive here and sold very few as a result

I don’t think there was ever a 50k difference between the 6cyl diesel and V8 petrol anyway.
They possibly were around 100k when new, I dunno.
Toyota don’t even list the current “Amazon” in this country anymore.
The regular 7 seater 2.8ltr Landcruiser is listed at €102k.

Back in 05 they were more like 110k here. But that's VRT for you. Same vehicle in the UK was 50k Sterling... No exchange rate could account for that.

It’s almost like, as Irish motorists we’re getting ripped off.

Yes they were, they used to have to lower the boot floor and relocate the exhaust to make the load space fit the old crewcab regs.

Here’s a standard one vs a crewcabbed one, note the hole in the mud flap to accommodate the relocated exhaust

You can see it clear enough in this particular one

The red bit is the lower floor they fitted, the towbar was kinda built onto this bit, and the spare wheel would be put into it.

There would have been a partition with a window between the back of the rear seats and the load area.

Land Cruisers make crazy money. A good clean used one over 10 years can be easily 5 figures. And with high miles. Not saying this one is realsitic or anything!
Also the commercial tax is another draw.

Good luck getting any company to give you commercial insurance on this though!

    Why shouldn’t they?

Why? If it’s registered as a commercial vehicle?

Give it a try! I've spent 3 days trying to find anyone to cover me on something similar, and with 15 years NCD I still can't get an offer. Granted, it's a LHD which could be the issue.

  • Registered Users Posts: 73,454 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

Toyota themselves sold Land Cruiser crew cabs new so this isn’t an issue for insurers.

I’ve friends who have crewcabs insured.
It’s not an issue if you have a business.
You don’t need to be regd for vat either.

Almost 20 years of age, with cheaper Classic car Insurance adding to the appeal of this appreciating asset.

I'm almost sure he's serious at that money, with mention of "Mexico" and ad is in the vintage section.

A genuine Mexico would be worth three times that amount but that’s just a pos regular late model escort. Scrap.

    It’s NOT a Mexico.
It’s a bloody special edition of a crappy mk6 Escort which had NOTHING extra except a Mexico sticker.
