Thats my point, they might be selling for 12k but they are not worth that, completely overhyped and overpriced for what you are getting. The F20 engine is designed on late 1980's honda vtec technology and was already outdated when they put it into the S2000 in 1999.

Bar straight line speed and looks (subjective!) an NB mk2 mazda mx5 is a a much better all round 2 seater convertible, its a proper well balanced drivers car. There's a reason I still have my one and sold the S2000.

It's a good point but this point is missing the point of the thread - its a dreamer thread - if a car is priced according to the market - it's not dreaming.

Now, if this was a "cars that aren't worth the money they're making" thread, you would have a great point, as would many other replies to this thread.

My comment was directed at a post with an S2000 for sale at ~27k which absolutely fits the description of this thread.

your comment was about s2000s not being worth 12k, I quoted it.... I also agree, but the market doesn't.

Well I think the fact that it is sitting unsold for 18+ months at 27.5 tells us that it is not worth the money....

Claims 18,600 kms, but photo shows 186,000 miles. Big difference. No NCT or tax, and requires quite a bit of work. If it can be done for the prices quoted, it should be done. The photos are awful.

Its that bad that nobody has offered him the standard adverts offer to swap for a playstation 4 and cash their way.

What a complete shed. Worth about a grand if it actually had an NCT.

I have a 07 Vectra Sri myself. Its in pretty excellent condition and even has a few extras like full leather interior and factory colour screen sat nav. And even at that I know if I were to sell it in the morning I'd struggle to get a grand for it, even if it has tax and nct.

97 Punto GT for €10k. Anyone?

    I know they're rare, but €10k - lol.

If you’re passionate about FIAT, and know your history, call me. If you know, you know!
The only history I know is that they weren’t that good and had no torque.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,884 ✭✭✭Tzardine

That Punto is definitely a dreamer alright.

Horrible colour, no mileage listed, stupid exhaust, and looks generally untidy.

For comparison, Deane Motors (I know, I am sorry alright), sold this absolute cracker last year for about 8k I estimate. And look for yourself, it was incredible.

FIAT = Fix It Again Tomorrow.

Vintage - 23 years old. I don't think so. A 23 year old champagne might be vintage, but a 23 year old bottle of 7 Up would not.

    Some people love 7up though.

Same as these Puntos. There are people out there that like them. And without a doubt, its an achievement for one of them to last 23 years. :pac:

I'll tell you how dreamer that Fiat is, Deane Motors sold one for less this year.

I have yet to meet anyone who would love 23 year old 7 up.

Apart from anything else, it would be flat, and probably contaminated. I had a bottle I found at the back of the drinks cupboard that was 18 months old and it went down the sink - flat as a pancake. So no, no-one would like 23 year old 7 up, or a 23 year old FIAT.

Flat 7Up can cure all ailments though :)

Joking aside, there are absolutely people that love 23 year old Fiats. They might not be your cup of tea, but every car ever made has its enthusiasts. In 20 years there will be people that love old Dacia Sandero's and will pay top dollar for a nice one. Its just the way it is.

£7.5k for a minter in the UK, fast Fiats have their fans.

    Speak for yourself.

That's a stunning 20v turbo coupe. Maybe a slightly pointless comparison with a 23 year old Fiat lunchbox.

But it is not a Panda, is it?

Fiat own Ferrari, remember, and have produced some lovely cars, like the Spiders.

Owned 4 gt turbos over the years. Bought one in drogheda for 600€ 10 years ago.

They where a great little car but was always fixing them. Would love to own one again just not enough to fork out 10k for one.

Yep but wheel size was important. 16”s looked ridiculous under that body. I think the original concept had 20”s but 17/18”s are about right.
