Is it possible to post something to UK, Europe to an actual post office address for the person to collect it?

It would be possible to post an item to the post office but very unlikely they will accept an item for some random person unless they have a PO Box.

So would the post office take it if it had a notice to keep at post office for person A.

Normally you can write "Poste restante", the person's name and the address of the post office. They'll need ID to collect the item.

Most of the big courier companys dhl ups tnt etc will let you collect from the depot when you fill out the airwaybill just make sure to mark clearly collection from depot there name and phone number and they will have to bring id of course before it will be released to them but i suppose all this depends on how important what your sending is because these companys can be expensive.

I'm trying to figure out why you'd want to do this..... smells a bit funny.

edit: It can't be a delivery concern - if the person isnt there it would automatically go to a depot for collection or an attempted re-delivery.

Unless you knew the people involved it wouldnt be allowed in Ireland anyway.

If we get post to John Doe c/o shelflife post office it goes straight back as unknown at this address.

    You need to write:

    Recipient Full Name
    Poste Restante
Name and address of post office.
    Postal code of post office.

And put your return address on the outside.

It's also a good idea to put the person's mobile number on the package to ensure they can be contacted if there's any confusion.

Most postal services, including An Post, offer it (it's mentioned on their website).

The person collecting needs to bring photo ID.

They may also need to prearrange it with that post office in some cases. I wouldn't just send items to a random post office as they may be returned.

Some postal systems will charge them to pick the item up too. Although it's usually not a big fee.

A person in a country where they have no postal address needs to get something from home. It's safer to use Post Retante to a Post Office than a random hostel/hotel.
