You don't need to spend €1600 for a machine capable of Fortnite :pac:

    What's your current monitor?

Honestly, if you want to play stuff like Fortnite you're better off just getting a console imo. €1600 is crazy money to pay just for that.

    OUT, HERETIC!

But yeah OP you can play Fortnite on a potato. A GTX 1060 / RX 580 system would run this smoothly even at 1440p.

Take a cue from these articles:

    https://www.gamersnexus.net/pc-builds/3404-mid-range-gaming-pc-build-for-fortnite-streaming

OverclockersUK even have a page for Fortnite-capable machines:

@OP. K.O.Kiki will come up with a build that will blitz Fortnite for probably less than half that price.

  • Registered Users Posts: 18,707 ✭✭✭✭K.O.Kiki

I could but OP doesn't seem like they want to build.
    So:

Gets the job done for 999.99 euro

Thanks everyone. I'll clarity a few points. It will be for fortnite but I'd like to future proof for the next year anyway as his taste in games evolve. It seems like most of the games now require more to play them. We have a console but they prefer playing on the PC.

Thanks for this. It says it won't load the configuration but I do see the CITIZEN GAMING PC maybe as a base model. Price wise its amazing for what seems to be a great machine. Going to look in more detail now.

Out of interest do you build machine on behalf of others?

As for monitors I am looking at a 75hz. Scan have one I was considering. As you can tell I'm pretty clueless so welcome any recommendations. Was planning on 2 of these although using one for gameplay.

I should add that he also streams when he plays games so that seems to slow things down and reduce what I believe is the FPS

That one Kiki linked to is perfect for gaming and streaming and it's only about €950 delivered if you add in an SSD. The build in your OP is radically overpowered for what you want. The OCUK one will run even the latest demanding games at high/ultra, Fortnite would run at several hundred fps.

It has a six core CPU which also makes it ideal for streaming while gaming. Plus it comes with two free brand new games :)

I don't build for others as I simply can't deal with the hassle of after-sales support :pac:

Get the OCUK "Citizen" with these options:
    16Gb RAM
Intel 660p 512Gb Solid State Drive

The Ryzen 2600 CPU is 6 cores, 12 threads so (as per GamersNexus link) should be well able for streaming gameplay.

For screens, I'd recommend the LG Electronics 24MK600M-B which is similarly a 1920x1080 75Hz screen but with FreeSync (prevents screen tear) and IPS panel (better colours).

The Ryzen build that Kiki linked, will be perfect for your needs for both playing Fortnight, anything due to come out over the next year and streaming. When it comes to gaming PC's and "future proofing", all you need to do is replace the graphics cards in a year or two and you are golden :)

I wouldn't buy a 1070 today, with 2060 coming and expected to beat it in both performance and price. Also, not a fan of AIO liquid coolers, but that is a matter of preference I suppose - but you can get decent air coolers for under 40E.

    Thanks K.O.Kiki and TerrorFirmer

Some final questions and thank you for the help

With that screen do you know if I can connect 2 monitors to the desktop you mentioned. One is for gameplay but would like two running. Out of interest can you have them operate as a single screen or is that down down to the graphics card?

It doesnt seem like there is an additional HDD beyond the SSD so would it not be better to get the 1TB

I need to have it connect to WIFI so assume I'd need to add the adapter as I can't see wifi built in? Is there a Lan connection out of interest?

The Nitro+ graphic card is 9 pounds more which I assume is a slightly better card. Would it be better to get that now at the small additional cost?

  • Registered Users Posts: 18,707 ✭✭✭✭K.O.Kiki

There is a 2Tb hard drive included as standard - the SSD is optional.

The graphics card has multiple outputs; you simply plug in your monitors and set orientation in Windows.
For multi-monitor use (1 for gameplay, 1 for whatever else) IIRC you want to set your game to "Borderless Windowed" mode instead of Fullscreen.

WiFi is an option on the OCUK page.
I'd suggest getting a long Ethernet cable or HomePlugs instead though; much better stability for online play.

The Nitro+ is quieter, however the Red Devil cools more effectively.

Actually just realised: the recomended LG screen has HDMI input only.
So if connecting 2 of them, you'd want the Sapphire RX 590 Nitro+ as it has 2x HDMI outputs.

You can get DVI to HDMI or DP to HDMI adapters no?

DVI adapters are out as they won't support FreeSync.

I would only need 1 monitor to have freesync, the one with the game. Could the other connection be DVI?
