Strange one...

Hey Guys,
Flying from Munich to Dublin tomorrow and im wondering if this: (https://www.ebay.co.uk...-FREE-/281593987427) can be carried on as part of hand luggage? Present I bought for my dad as hes into his vintage cars and getting it home is now on my mind....
Its metal, non mercury and is 30cms long. Self explanatory item really but security can be funny.
Please note i have this post also in the travel section but i thought some expert folks in here maybe able to give me a better idea!

Airlines don't like mercury.

So key is documentation to prove it isn't mercury.

Is it fully boxed? Present it separately for screening

Here it is, it's a thermometer. Being liquid, it'd have to fit in the clear plastic bag, which it won't at 30cm long

Its in a box, do i try to explain or leave it in my case and produce it if questioned?
I was more so worried about it being metal and 30cm ish long.

Once a thermometer doesnt contain silver liquid its not mercury, liquid in this one is blue. That was the first thing i googled and screen shot!
