As long as youre in the pit for this its worth it. Being outside the pit standing or seated will be a khents picnic.

    Will there be a pit?

I was speaking about it earlier in the thread, i would assume so, (a la Bruce’s 2 gigs there in 2013)it makes perfect sense for safety alsoand has the advantage of keeping the event junkies back, and they can talk all they want back there. Sadly, these types of legacy events, attract huge volumes of these people.

Still on the fence about this gig

From Waterford so it's not a long journey up the road but ticket price is too high (hoping too pick up a cheap on if I do go) and as cool as it would be too see these legends the songs I've heard are not the most exciting and could be a disaster live with people talking and shouting all the way through it

I'm on the fence too. I would have somewhere to stay for the night though. I'm more interested in seeing Neil Young than Bob Dylan.

Yeah I've never really not been in a pit for one of those types of gigs for a long time for that reason. Paying all that money and not watching the bands and chatting about work and the like. Madness.

The inevitable disappointment when 78 year old Bob Dylan doesn't look or sound like this guy.
    Bring back Young Bob. :)

I'm looking forward to the bit when people realise that the big screen that will be there for Neil's performance has disappeared and won't be coming back for Bob - who is also hiding behind his piano

From the sounds of it here, Bob could be playing in front of a half empty venue. Won't be a need for a big screen.

I asked Irish Rail about an after gig service to Dublin and they said there are currently no plans to put on services after the concert.

    That's me out me thinks

It'd be cool if Neil asked Glen out to do a tune, same as Bruce did in Kilkenny..

    https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=IWHuWlYEuxM

I'd love to hear them doing Cowgirl In The Sand, or acoustically, The Old Laughing Lady.

Ah I know he's Marmite, but I think he's got an amazing voice.
Saw him collaborating with Eddie Vedder too, which was a brilliant show.

What times it over, there's an airport one leaves at 9.45 back to Dublin.

    Try Rapid Express bus service.
    Also Dublin Coach.

They run regular services to Dublin from Waterford, calling at Kilkenny.

Although I think there might not be a service at the time the gig ends. There is a gap at night until the early morning hours, if I recall rightly there is a bus sometime around 2am. Might be worth checking anyway.

Checked there on those two services so the departure times from Kilkenny are 10 pm or stupid o clock in the AM so not worth it.

Anybody have any information on buses/trains to Dublin after the concert ?

Or even portlaoise or new Ross if it comes to it?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,258 ✭✭✭fafy

There seems to be a lot of people who are having transport issues- to and from Dublin. Maybe car pooling might be an option for some, or, just don’t drink, and drive down and back.

I emailed Irish rail a few weeks ago and they said they would put on special trains if there was sufficient demand.

So maybe people with issues getting back to Dublin should send them a mail

This is literally driving me mental, I've contacted every bloody bus service that travels to Kilkenny from Dublin and all of them have said it depends on availability, it's like a bloody conspiracy, do they want every one from Dublin to walk home including all those who will fly into Dublin airport. I think if people request a service from jjkavanagh that could be the best bet.

Dublin coach- Last bus from Kilkenny ormonde road- Dublin city is 21.40 on the 14th July

Handy for me is the last Kilkenny- Waterford Dublin coach bus is 23.45 (possibly later with concert traffic) Not paying €30 for travelmaster

Well Dublin Coach have said they won't be running later bises bob Dylan starts at 9 so you would miss half his set if you left early. The whole thing is a joke

    Hmmm...

What's the story with tickets- is it sold out or do you think there will be cheap standing tickets going a begging? As it get's closer might consider going if the price is right.

Also there are rows mentioned like row m l k and r that aren't on the map- is this a flat seating area close to the stage on the pitch level?

Still a few left on Ticketmaster but Keep on eye on Toutless and join Facebook event pages for the gig. I picked up a standing ticket off toutless for €70. Should be a few tickets showing up for sale there.

No flat seating on the pitch, all standing

What do you reckon the odds are of being allowed to bring in a folder out chair. Wifey needs a hip op in August and unable to stand for long periods.
