Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi

Our heating came on tonight and the tower mv2 22c valve started making a loud click every 10 seconds or so.

Any idea what the problem could be?

    Thanks

It possibly is worn/slipping gearing in the motorized valve actuator head which will then need replacing.
To rule out external faults try and identify what zone this valve is serving, for example if a (the) hot water zone activate the zone via the time switch/programmer or whatever then turn the cylinder thermostat fully clockwise, if the clicking stops then it more than likely is a faulty cylinder thermostat, if it continues then more than likely the valve actuator. If it is a zone heating valve carry out the same steps as above but in this case turn the associated room stat fully clockwise to test it.
If/when you do remove the actuator, check that the valve spindle will turn relatively easily 90 degrees each way with a adjustable spanner or even a pliers before renewing the actuator only, if the valve is seized/very difficult to turn then the system will have to be drained down and a new valve complete fitted.
Judging by the date stamped on it you have got a pretty good run out of it.

    Thanks

Got the clicking to stop and the downstairs radiators heat plus we still have hot water, but the upstairs radiators are cold now.

Not much info to go on there so don't know what that valve is actually feeding... upstairs??, there is a "paddle positioner indicator" on the side of the actuator which should indicate open, can only suggest that it is some form of water noise and if a sealed system check that the expansion vessel is reading > 1.5 Bar or if a vented system, check that the header tank is full and obviously then bleed the rads.
