Can anyone recommend a good mechanic in Dublin who is used to working on Mercedes G Wagen 460s? Ideally someone with good diagnostic skills (not randomly replacing expensive parts) and who will get work done quickly so it’s not out of action for weeks at a time every time.

    Thanks!

    P

What's the problem with it? They are fairly simple mechanically.
Electrics give problems which is usually ground related.

Yes, saw that site - thanks for the recommendation. Really looking for a reliable, affordable set of hands to do ongoing work / maintenance and return quickly. Anyone have any experience of Greenmount Motors in Harold’s Cross?

Unless the garage has specific W460 experience I would look elsewhere.
Ask the same question on the G wagen register, any work I had done was either done by me or in the UK.

Yeap when there’s an OM605/6 up front mated to a dieselmeken pump...

460’s are at best basic in their original guise so any decent mechanic should solve most snags.

There is a Mercedes specialist near abbeyleix, forget the name of them. But if its MB they have fixed it. A lot of the old Dublin taxi drivers who used MB use to head down there

total thread drift- OP wanted to know someone in Dublin. Tbh very few mechanics in Dub are upto dealing with older vehicles due lack of knowledge, their total reliance on what the scanner says and greed of easy work. U’ll find lads on the border counties of meath, kildare etc right up there with patience to sort these older machines. Leaving a truck in a yard is no biggie for these lads as they await parts to arrive , different up in dub where space is at a premium and the profit margain is king.

I seen an awful one in tallaght on monday.
Had massive chrome "wagon" wheels and seriously low profile tyres .

Something like this but not as big
