Portuguese speaking satellite

Hi,

I am wondering what is the best sat for Portuguese channels on satellite. I have seen Hispasat 30W-5 but are the channels free or do you need a paid service with a decoder box to get the channels.

There are a few Brazilian people who have little english and want some cheapish solution to watch TV

Any info appreciated

There is very little Free to Air, and probably not worthwhile getting a system for any one satellite. There is one Brazilian channel on 28 East, Record TV, looks like a version for the UK. Nothing else in Portuguese.

30 West is the satellite with loads of Portuguese, but nearly all Pay TV.

cheers for that. It seems that there is more free to air channels on 43.1W
Would i pick this up sat with 1 meter dish?

They are C Band frequencies, which needs special equipment. Probably 1.8 metre dish minimum, and a different LNB.

RTP Internacional TV is available free to air from the Hotbird Satellite all over Europe, plus a couple of radio stations.
