1st gen iPad Pro 12.9- worth getting or pony up for the new one?

Money is tight enough for me, and I passed one in the window of CeX as I was on the way to buy the recent one. At a third of what I was about to fork over, it’s a tempting proposition. Is the newest one worth paying the extra if it’s the difference between moving to a new place now or moving to one in six months time?
