Maybe be aboit retaining possession more and slightly more defencive?

Interesting to see how the team reacts to this, could be a nervy finish.

Strangely casual atmosphere to this second half that could cost us the win. Nervous now.

We're sitting back and encouraging Brighton to come into us.

Let's see if we can hit them on the break. Be sickened if we concede again.

I presume rash moves out the wing and lukaku up front

We need to not be giving away stupid free kicks here

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,369 ✭✭✭Rossi IRL

Players look like they can only last 60 mins at the first half tempo

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,906 ✭✭✭✭PhlegmyMoses

Ref can **** off with that, giving a corner

Should have been a free out

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,369 ✭✭✭Rossi IRL

Not the first time Montoya has come through him and left something on him

Should be off if ref was doing his job

Dalot looks like he just meeds to be encouraged a bit to get on the ball a bit. He is excellent on the ball

Same as last week. Good first half, shocking second half.

Excellent there from Dalot to win the ball, retain it and release Pogba.

This 2nd half performance is worrying. We seem to drop off completely, in almost every sense. 2nd half against spurs was also worrying.

Perhaps the conditioning of the players isn't good enough to sustain the tempo.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,369 ✭✭✭Rossi IRL

Lol Montoya giving it large after doing Rashford twice and getting some back

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,369 ✭✭✭Rossi IRL

    Good clearance Lukaku

Thank **** we got away with a win, a huge relief.

I hope OGS has a word with them after that awful 2nd half

Might have to ease off a little in the first half

    Players seem completely gassed

Time wasting at home to Brighton...

I'd like to see our KM covered stats for the matches under Ole. Are players running themselves too much in the first half in an attempt to kill it off? Its a tactic but we've been waste-full in the 2nd half, Lingard and Martial and Rashford all could have had goals but if we don't kill it off we are gassed and unable to go toe to toe as much.

Very sloppy second pass but at least we saw it out.

Poor second half, a few players not looking fully fit.

A very good first half followed by a very poor second half.

Brighton outran United up until the 80th odd minute I think there was a graphic.

It's to do with composure. They start to hoof the ball away and players not putting in the effort getting back and helping because they now think they are above it. The space between the front 4 and the midfield is easily exploited and there is a free run at the defence when any of them lose it centrally which happens a lot no matter what half.

7 wins from 7, cant ask for more than that

I think that not the worst sign, winning playing so so. I know the second half drop off is a concern but I wouid hope the longer they play this system the better they get at addressing that. It’s easy to forget that in terms of working with this team Ole still hasn’t even had a pre-season...

Hardly like we haven't slowed down the game to drain points against other teams. Sloppy second half and saw out the win rather than speed it up at the end and possibly get ourselves caught out.

Doesn't matter who the opposition is every team does the same. It's the most logical decision.

I really hate how we still continue to hoof it up to Lukaku who is absolutely abysmal at any sort of hold up play.

Better than losing to them, we created enough chances to win that by more than two goals and were deserved winners. All teams waste time and take the ball to the corner at home if they are only one goal up in a game late on.

    lol
Not at all, great hustle from many players today. Lukaku was clearing it from the corner late on.

I give out about it when other teams do it too. It's a blight on the game and something needs to be done about it sooner rather than later imo.

I think saying we scraped that is harsh. Should have been 3 or 4 up on 60 mins with the chances we created. They created nowt bar their goal really. Fell away last 30 again though, which is worrying.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,843 ✭✭✭GSPfan

Weird game. Delighted we got the win and hopefully Olé looks into this second half drop in energy that has happened in the last two games.

You say that and yet the other teams are still outrunning them.

and were outscoring them, which is far more important.

Every single team time wastes when winning by one goal at the end of the game. Was that sarcasm or is it your first time watching football?

Out of 7 how many outran them?

Second half was fine up until we conceded which came out of nowhere. Always tricky playing out the last 15 minutes of a game when this happens.

It's possible the players are struggling with their fitness levels but I don't think it's the sole reason for us retreating towards the end.

Would like to see a bit more put of Martial. Should have had at least one with his chances but would like to see him kick on a bit more
