    How do these actually work? Is it necessary to have broadband installed in your home or a pre-existing satellite TV connection?

    Please read the notice at the top of the forum about the ban on discussion of obtaining subscription tv or media services without paying for them.

    If you want to use an android box to get Netflix or any other streaming services cue then you will of course need an internet connection.

    Android boxes do not act as satellite receivers unless they have a dedicated satellite receiver module installed, and these are not run-of-the-mill.
