Fencing or Hedging

Hi guys thinking of doing up my driveway to my house and just wondering which would be better a fence up the drive way or some sort of hedging. Pros and cons for both.

Depends what you're trying to achieve? Visual barrier/privacy? Stopping animals? Just adding a bit of colour/structure?

Downside to hedging is leaves dropping on the driveway, and you need to prune it. Upside: cheaper than fencing, more natural, better for environment.

Is there a reason you want hedging rather than individual trees or shrubs?
