Messed around with Dell's configurator and managed to wrangle 32GB ram instead of 16 for 20 quid less.... makes no sense to me but i wont complain.

Price there is without VAT, with VAT it came to 2614 with a promo code applied.

Enjoy it when it arrives, it's a nice spec!

HP do them through Curry's, Elara and direct.

Amazon uk sell pre-builts too, either sold directly by them or in the case of ADMI and other prebuilt computers sold as "Fulfilled by Amazon"

This 1660 super Medion - https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08Z2534D2 works out at about a €1000 delivered.

This RTX 2060 ADMI prebuild - https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01IPH286I (fulfilled by Amazon) works out about 70 euro more.

Expensive for what they are, from what I recall I think the Dell offerings are better in terms of value and warranty.

EDIT - ADMI have some 3070 builds on amazon but these are not "fulfilled by Amazon" but shipped directly from ADMI and if memory serves me correctly they will be cancelled as ADMI aren't setup to sell to Ireland. The fulfilled by Amazon PC's can be shipped as amazon handle VAT and duties. This might have changed but I recall reading this before.

Similar spec as the medion, slightly cheaper, but less ram and a **** case.

    https://www.laptopsdirect.ie/punch-technology-cougar-mini-core-i5-10400f-8gb-1tb-hdd-240gb-ssd-geforce-gdt-705-1121/version.asp

stick an intake fan or two on the top and airflow will be grand for those components.

Random enough question for this thread, but anyway.

I've a big enough gaming pc (Lian Li Dynamic Case, 34inch ultrawide curved monitor) and all the bells and whistles. I am moving to a new apartment and it'll be in the spare room. I think I want one of those desks that can convert into a bed and hide everything. You know, so the OHs family aren't put off by the FPS boosting tacky AF RGB when they come to stay. But they're mostly made for pretty neat office setups. Has anyone got any advice for a converting desk bed that hides a whole gaming rig?

Extremely difficult to get in Ireland. There's one that folds down but only seen it for sale in the US.

Just throw a blanket over it when they come over.

GTX 1070 going up to 90 degrees when playing certsin games at 1440. Have the fans turned up to 100 with MSI as well as wear headphones. It's causing games to crash.

its ne of those cards with a large case and a tiny single fan.

The PC is an open air setup with no case. Would I be better off removing the fan and case off the card.

    What can I do?

or just turn off the RGB? its then just a bog standard pc with no rainbow lightshow

Ah yeah, it's less about the rgb (I was being facetious) and more about having a neat guest bedroom. With or without the rgb it's a big set up, with a monster screen and a load of peripherals.

Just sit them down when they get there (before they see the battlestation) and have a chat over tea or something. Ease into it, I'm sure your OH would know how their relative is likely to react. They could do the talking if you're not up to it yourself.

"[Relative], we've something important to tell you. errlloyd is a gamer. I know this may be a shock to you, it was to me in the beginning also, but I've accepted it and my love for errlloyd is stronger now than it's ever been..."

It's 2021, people are more receptive to these things. You never know, the in-laws may have dabbled in gaming themselves at one stage.

Fan at 100% on a blower. It must be like a jet engine.

Since it's a old card did you buy second hand as card over heating while fan at 100% means there deffo is a problem. Did you open up the card to see if the thermal paste is still there and see if the heatsink is correctly mounted as it's either a mounting issue or the thermal paste is gone.

Depends how often you're talking about them visiting and staying over. Any sort of folding desk isn't going to be great as a desk anyways so you'd be sacrificing your own comfort and ergonomics.

And besides if they're staying over on a frequent basis that makes it too much of a hassle to hide your pc and monitor then you've more problems than your pc setup!

What 3070 is it? Is there an adapter in the GPU box?

It's Gigabyte, problem sorted now i think, my father got it clipped in, the 8 pin and 6 pin the pointy bit at the top wasn't clicking in, it certainly didn't go in easily so hopefully it's okay.
There was no adaptor as far as i know

    Okay a few queries
Just wondering about the fractal design 7 case, it has a nexus+ 2 fan hub , I'm a bit confused about this, it's new to me , so I connect the three case fans to this hub instead of connecting them to the motherboard is this okay?

Also at the back of the case I am left with two cables
One is PWM cable which comes from the nexus hub, the manual says to connect to cpu fan or system fan , I already have the cpu fan connected to the cpu fan 1 slot, so where does this leave me???

There is also a sata cable also from the hub , the sata cable goes to the PSU according to the manual , what is it's purpose?

There is also a slot on the hub for 'main/cpu 4 pin PWM fan/RPM value reported to the motherboard.
    I am a bit lost.

You can connect the fan hub to one of the sys headers on your mobo. The sata cable is to power the fan hub.

Also the last slot on the hub is for if you want to plug your 4 pin cpu fan into the hub. Because the fractal case fans are 3 pin only they won't be controllable in terms of speed, but a 4 pin PWM connector can have the rpm of the fan controlled, and that's what the slot is for

Thanks What's the purpose of the hub? Do I need to use it at all?

This case looks to be nearly perfect - wonder if I can convince the GF to let me rebuild into ITX? :pac:

  • Registered Users Posts: 694 ✭✭✭Confused11811

    Speaking of ITX:D

I received the case, PSU ,M.2 SSD, motherboard and cooler over the weekend to accompany the ram and CPU I already had picked up.

My 1080 TI in current main rig will probably be going into this build. Hoping to land a RX6700XT or RX6800XT from AMD this week to replace the 1080 TI in the main build but if that doesn't happen I've a RX6700XT pre-ordered from Amazon ES to fall back on. Ideally I'd like to get a white GPU for the ITX build but thats not going to happen anytime soon :pac:

Just ease of use/cleaner cabling, rather than running each of the fans into an individual header on the motherboard, some motherboards only have one or two sysfan/chassis fan headers.

165mm max cpu cooler height is unreal for an ITX case, especially since they're saying the RGB version is going to be only £65.

Would've taken this over my 280x one hundred times over.

Any suggestions for a white PC case? Already against the bequiet yolk I've seen suggested here before (Pure base 500 or something. Not mad about the look of it) but I'm tempted by the phanteks P360A and Lancool 2. Any others out there

    Corsair 4000D Airflow
    Fractal Meshify C / Meshify 2 Compact
    Silverstone Redline RL06
    Phanteks P400A Digital

    GameMax F15m.

IMHO the best value for money high airflow case on the market right now.

Same OEM case as the Lian Li Lancool 215 but with a better RBG contoller and 3 RGB fans instead of 2.

I have one with a 240mm AIO cooling a 5600x and a 6900xt and my thermals are fantastic.
