Meltzer certainly has that seamless ability to get under people's skin, as can be seen in this forum the odd occasion.

Then again, he's been around so long, you don't survive reporting on a business like professional wrestling without picking up some tricks over the years.

Can't wait for Kennys intro at Revolution to include the VOW match of the year winer and whatever WON awards he won

I never had a real problem with him until the last year and his unbearable fanboy antics.

Would that be VOWs first mention on mainstream wrestling?

    Well deserved if it happens.

    He's a shill, nothing more.

Just blatant nonsense pandering to his fanbase like how Bianca Belair doesn't impress him that much or Io Shirai isn't that great but Tay Conti is gonna be a megastar? Give me strength.

He's no wrestling historian or journalist, as some claim. Just a gossip monger and a PR man.

Oh lord. What person on Earth has preserved Pro wrestling wrestling history to the extent that Meltzer has? Nobody.

Also would absolutely love to see where those takes are from. Really looking forward to the source of those.

And, listening to TK today and how high he is on Conti, she'll get every chance to succeed and her improvement since leaving WWE is obvious.

It would be. Tbf Joe does have people inside AEW that talk to him, it's no secret that he was one of the guys lobbying AEW to give Starks a shot in the company. You'd imagine that given Joe resides in Texas and his knowledge of that scene he probably put in some positive feedback about Sammy Guevara too.

Meltzer is probably going to get something else named after him after that haul. Did he really say in a tweet recently that there isn't a booker in the last twenty odd years that hasn't read his work and "learned" from him. I saw Cornette being incredulous over it.

    Fcuk me like.

Say it all the time, I'll say it again, Meltzer has undoubtedly had an influence on modern mainstream American pro wrestling. That's indisputable. There's more intricate booking stuff you'd really have to dive into to get a handle on but the obvious stuff (popularising the current going style of ring work and helping to bring a Japanese influence to a western audience) is the more obvious stuff you can point to.

Joe and Rich are genuine guys, no bull**** and seem fair. Been listening since 2015 I think, Brain Elliot put me wide to them. Love their flagship cast and they know their ****, even if Joe is cranky at times. They both genuinely love wrestling, super knowledgable and have the comradery that makes listening to their show, which can be mega long at times, an easy listen.

The shows are great, always enjoy the Flagship every week, the post shows for the big events and the individual stuff they do like Rich's retro stuff and Joe's Wednesday reviews. And I know Joe said it a while ago but I think he's right, there's no podcast going today that covers the sheer amount of product in the detail that they do, it's wild. And they'd rarely steer you wrong, I'll admit at the height of the pandemic to enjoying me some Kaji Tomato in 2AW because of they were pretty positive (and not even that ironically) on his tag stuff.

What intricate stuff do you think Dave influenced even in the WWF that they weren't doing previously. Genuine question, I'm actually curious.

That's what I'm saying, I'd really have to dive into that before giving a take. I don't throw out takes without doing my homework first.

Though it's pretty much known Vince was a known Observer reader and has dealt with Meltzer numerous times, most notably during the early 90s steroid scandal and the ring boys abuse scandal around the same time.

Vinces right hand man Bruce Pritchard had Meltzer on speed dial. To pretend Dave hasnt influenced (intentionally or not) modern US wrestling is insane. Hell WCW from 99 onwards was booked to try and 'work' sheet readers.

Well for starters Meltzer is the reason we got Big Poppa Pump Scott Steiner and that run to the top of WCW. Scott was tired of Meltzer ripping off his style and trying to look like him so he went for a radical makeover, and the rest is history.

Khan say he is really interested in talking with Thea Trinidad and after Revolution he'd like to get in contact to see what she is up too.

TK also hinted at Zelina Vega yesterday. Thinks highly of her in her role as a manager during her time in WWE.

She didnt do much in WWE IMO, through no fault of her own.

Im not saying she isnt talented, but she didnt stand out to me from how WWE presented her

After a few days to let the news settle, I'm just not a fan of the big show signing at all.

Don't get me wrong (before someone replies with all the reasons they signed him), I know why they signed him and it was probably the right thing for them to do. But I've just never been a fan. I've been watching wrestling since 97 and I don't think I have skipped or changed the channel more in that time than I have with Big show matches/segments.

Hopefully he might turn out to be a decent commentator but I'll have no interest at all in any feuds or matches he'll have even if they're few and far between.

Edit - I also don't get the Zelina Vega hype. Really hope they don't go down a "TNA hire every ex WWE talent for the sake of it" stage. This is coming from someone that thinks AEW has been great so far. Not trying to take cheap shots at them for no reason.

The Bleacher report stream last night was region blocked for people outside the US (it wasn't supposed to be) so the matches had to be put on YouTube.

Happy Thunder Rosa got through. Even though the result was spoiled during the 6 women tag. Excalibur said the finals of the US bracket are tomorrow and Taz says that Nyla and Thunder Rosa will be a hard hitting match.

I'm scouring their YouTube to find the show and I can't find it. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. It's unfortunate but the Bleacher Report thing seems to have been a total mess, which is a real shame considering the potential of having AEW content on Bleacher Report could have in terms of fan creation and revenue possibilities.

6 woman tag to open the show was very very good. Post Covid hopefully we'll see more of the Joshi regularly in AEW.

I expect Rosa to go on and win the tournament and beat Shida at Revolution setting the table for Britt to win the belt at Double or Nothing

I expect this also. But the best thing about AEW is that they dont always go in the direction you expect. What we expect to be obvious, thanks to WWE conditioning, isnt always as obvious in AEW.

Rosa looked like a giant compared to Riho and never thought she was particularly big. Gas stuff.

The 6-woman joshi tag was class, I echo the call that hopefully post pandemic we see a lot more of the wrestlers appear for AEW. If they could get on board with STARDOM even better.

Also just saw that the Fite TV app is now available on Samsung Smart TV's which is good news for me anyways and maybe useful to others on here too who use it to watch AEW.

It was only available on my Sony TV 2 weeks ago. Way better than casting from my phone.

    Makes a big difference.

How is everyone watching next weeks PPV not back to work in until Wednesday week so may stay up for it.

Last night was first weekend in like 4 weeks I didn't stay up late with Rumble, superbowl and NXT (Work week is Wednesday to Sunday)

Nyla beat Thunder Rosa. I really feel that if Rosa was under proper contract that they'd be pushing her to the moon, because to me she's the best in the womens division. She's had 50/50 booking so far. Not really bothered with Nyla being pushed as a monster for like the 3rd time then eventually losing and going away for awhile before coming back to do the same.

Surely TR Vs Britt Baker will be added to the PPV though at least.

Thunder is definitely getting stiffed over the contract situation. I understand it but at the same time this is why I'm iffy on talent sharing, because you're often going to get questionable results like this.
