We'd 16 on last week's matchday squad, two of the starting eleven are injured and one has left the club. Shaun Kelly isn't fit either. Could be looking at a thin squad

Are they looking for a new goalie? I'd be up for a few games :D

    Limerick 3-1 Longford

    (O'Connor, Hanlon, Devitt)

I've said this before, but there's an awful lot to admire about this team's spirit in the face of adversity, and it showed again tonight against a team chasing first place.

We took the lead after only 3 minutes when Tomas O'Connor went up for a corner and powered a header in off the post. Longford equalisd on 15 minutes with a lovely near post flicked header after a cross was whipped into the box, but we scored again on 20 minutes. Karl O'Sillivan did well to move the ball up the pitch, Jason Hughes did well to switch play across to Sean Kelly, and he sent in a perfect cross for Red Hanlon to sidefoot into the bottom corner.

We almost scored immediately in the second half when Karl O'Sullivan saw a lob of the keeper hang in the air for an eternity before dropping just the wrong side of the post. But we did scored a third just 5 minutes later. We won possession in midfield and broke quickly with Clyde O'Connell (I think, but can't remember for sure) splitting the defence open with a perfect pass for the onrushing Lee Devitt. Devitt held off the defender and composed himself to finish low to the keeper's left.

Chances continued for both sides. Longford had a goal ruled out for offside, and Shane Tracy forced a great save from the keeper when he surprised everybody by going for goal from a freekick out wide. Later on Jack Bray had to make a great save at his near post when a Longford player had a lovely swivel and shot, but although they pressed for the last 15 minutes, we held firm.

Next game: away to Bray, Friday July 12th, 7.45pm.

    Bray Wanderers 1-0 Limerick

Sounded like a bad night in Bray. Not much to report from the game. Seems like Bray had more of the ball and created a few chances but we created very little. We conceded another catastrophic goal in first half injury time. Again, we tried to shepherd the ball over the line for a goal kick, and again the defender got dispossessed, and gave away a penalty which they scored.

Bray went down to 10 men early in the second half, as ex-Limerick player Killian Cantwell was sent off, but we couldn't make the extra man count.

Next game: Home to Drogheda, Friday July 19th, 7.45pm.

Tomas O'Connor (broken thumb), Ed O'Dwyer (broken nose), Aaron Fitz (knee) and Darren Murphy (suspended), might have to play 7 side in order to fill the subs bench.

Did Tomas O'Connor and Ed O'Dwyer get in a fight? :D

    Limerick 1-4 Drogheda

    (O'Connell)

Miserable weather and miserable all round for Limerick tonight, as Drogheda eased to a deserved win.

We took the lead after only 4 minutes. Shane Tracy whipped in a freekick, and a diving Clyde O'Connell crashed a close range header high into the net. For most of the rest of the half, Drogheda pressed and looked purposeful in attack, but didn't threaten too much. They had a couple of shots just wide and forced a good save from Brady just before half time. Limerick came close when Red Hanlon picked up a breaking ball but his shot was blocked, and Lee Devitt got in behind the defence but fired over from a wide angle.

We nearly scored again just a couple of minutes into the second half, when Hanlon fired wide when in behind the defence, but it all went downhill after that. The equalised on 50 minutes when they recycled possession after a good Brady save and fired a low ball across the box to be finished at the far post. It was 2-1 on 70 minutes, as we gave it away cheaply in midfield and they broke quickly, again finishing a low ball across the box.

It was 3-1 when Clyde O'Connell was penalised for what looked a soft foul in the box, and they finished it off late on when we failed to clear a corner and they scored with a snapshot from the edge of the box. They were excellent in the second half, the best I've seen from any visiting team this season, and we just couldn't deal with them.

It's a real blow to whatever lingering hopes we may have had of a playoff spot.

Next game: home to Cobh Ramblers, Friday July 26th, 7.45pm.

Also see just there on FB that the Blue Army are looking to hold a meeting about ways to save the club.

Would fancy Limerick tomorrow. Be interesting to see who's injured tomorrow and who comes into the squad because it gets wilder by the week.

    Limerick 3-4 Cobh Ramblers

    (McSweeney, O'Sullivan, Devitt)

A bizarre game of two halves tonight, but Limerick left themselves too much to do.

The first 35 minutes was as bad as anything I've ever seen from Limerick, and Cobh dominated completely. They went 1-0 up with a free header from a cross, then made it 2 when a player got in behind our static defence to beat Brady. It was 3 when we lost it in midfield and it was just too easy for them to play in ex-Limerick player Ian Turner on the right to score at the near post. Tommy Barrett had to do something, and reacted by making a double substitution after just 35 minutes, withdrawing an unhappy Red Hanlon.

We had to score early in the second half to make a game of it, and we did. Jason Hughes did well to force a mistake and then kept his head to set up Sean McSweeney to score. We pulled another back when Darren Murphy played in McSweeney, and he played a perfect ball aross the box for Karl O'Sullivan to score at the back post.

It was all Limerick and there was still plenty of time left, but a rareCobh attack saw a silly, needless tackle give away a penalty, and it was 4-2. We kept going, and when McSweeney sent sub striker Adam Foley in behind the defence, he kept his composure to find Lee Devitt in space, who fired home from the edge of the area. Devitt forced another good save late on, and there was an almighty scramble in the Cobh box, but we couldn't find an equaliser.

Next game: away to Cabinteely, Friday August 8th, 7.45pm.

It's a shame that there's been very little Blue Army presence in the last year or so just so to see that absolute fraud Darren Murphy get the guff he deserves.
Jesus Christ he is God awful. I gave him a chance this year seeing as he was always going to be out of his depth in the Premier, but I've never seen someone so confident in his ability to be f*cking useless. There are people playing Football For All who'd replace him.

    Cabinteely 3-0 Limerick

A real sign of how we are falling apart tonight.

We'd beaten Cabinteely both times we played them this season, but took a battering tonight. We were 1 down after just 5 minutes, and it was all Cabinteely for the first half. They added another on 33 minutes, with Limerick offering very very little.

It was 3-0 four minutes into the second half, and things got even worse when Tomas O'Connor was sent off on 52 minutes. Cabinteely slowed down with the game over as a contest, and it was played out at a pedestrian pace by the end.

This group of players gave more than could be asked of them for quite a while, but it looks like it's all unraveling now, as we lose our 4th game in a row, and 5th in 6 games.

Next game: FAI Cup away to Cobh Wanderers, Friday August 8th, 7.45pm

FAI Cup First Round: Cobh Wanderers 0-1 Limerick

    (O'Dwyer)

I wasn't at this, and couldn't find any updates to follow, so all I know is that we lost Red Hanlon to injury after just half an hour, and the Munster Senior League team kept it scoreless for the first half, but we scored a goal through substitute Ed O'Dwyer with 10 minutes to go.

At least it breaks the run of league defeats, and maybe we'll get a decent draw in the next round.

Next game: home to Athlone, Friday August 16th, 7.45pm

Sligo Rovers away in the cup on August 23-25, more than likely Saturday the 24th.

And for those that don't know, Tommy Holland and Jason Cross signed for Janesboro, while Ger Barry signed for Fairview.

    Limerick 1-1 Athlone

    (Own goal)

Limerick started well and were the better team for the first 20 minutes. It looked only a matter of time until we scored, but Athlone played their way back into it, and ended the half on top, scoring from a diving back post header just before halftime.

We huffed and puffed in the second half, and did create a few chances, the best of which was when Karl O'Sullivan got in behind the defence but placed his shot just wide of the post. It looked like we'd never score, but we did eventually, when a ball fired into the box was horribly miscued by an Athlone player into his own net. We pressed for a winner, but never really looked like getting one.

Next game: away to Sligo Rovers in the FAI Cup, Friday August 23rd, 7.45pm.

    FAI Cup: Sligo 6-2 Limerick

    (O'Sullivan 2)

Crazy and costly night in Sligo, as Limerick are knocked out of the FAI Cup.

We had the dream start, going 2-0 up within 10 minutes, the second of which was apparently a wonder goal from Karl O'Sullivan, beating 3 or 4 players to score.

But it was all downhill after that. Sligo pulled one back on 25 minutes, then equalised on 30, and even though they had a player sent off soon after, Shaun Kelly also saw red for Limerick 5 minutes later by picking up a second yellow. Sligo nicked a late goal to lead 3-2 at halftime.

Sligo made it 4-2 early in the second half, and Limerick fell to pieces. They made it 5-2 on the hour, and we had two players sent off in 2 minutes just afterwards. First Clyde O'Connell, then Jason Hughes, one of which seems to have been for an altercation involving a Sligo steward. Sligo added a 6th late on to add a little extra misery.

Next game: away to Galway, Friday August 30th, 7.45pm.

Being openly stated on social media (mainly Twitter) that club is the one at the centre of Garda investigations into alleged match-fixing.....how much worse can things get?

I saw it mentioned elsewhere that it was Hogan Park that was searched, and that it was more likely local Junior Football that was being looked into.

Limerick train in Hogan Park, local junior team wouldn't be training during mid day. Also I don't think you can bet on any local socce games apart from the premier Division games.

i watched highlights of the game. hard to notice anything untoward or obvious! they went 2 nil up then 5-2 down before they had a man sent off, so game was over before then. some of the goals were mistakes or poor play, but thats the standard...

Defending for both of Karl O'Sullivans goals were poor, he more or less ran straight through the Sligo team while six players stood there watching him.

Unless the guards can find anything on the phones or money that can't be explained then nothing will come about this legally. The FAI will probably throw out a years ban for a player or two because all they need is irregular betting patterns and poor defending to take action as seen with Athlone.

High Court gives interim examiner 100 days to save Limerick.
The High Court has appointed an interim examiner to League of Ireland side Limerick FC.

The appointment was made after the court heard that an independent expert had stated that Munster Football Club Limited, which trades as Limerick FC, has a reasonable prospect of survival as a going concern if certain steps are taken.

These steps include the appointment of an examiner who would put together a scheme of arrangement with the club's creditors, and if fresh investment in the League of Ireland First Division side can be secured.

The court heard that there has been four, including one formal, expressions of interest by potential investors in the club, which has debts of approximately €490,000.

100 days to save Limerick FC, you'd want to be s czniffing some serious amounts of glue to possibly have any notion of saving Limerick FC. Why save something that's nearly half a million in death and has burnt some serious bridges with businesses and people in the city. Especially when you can apply for your own licence and start debt free.

One of his first major jobs should be repairing links with UL and getting a working relationship with them.

    Well said!

Yes and no. You can of course apply for a license yourself as a new company but you need to have:

    A ground that meets licensing
    U19's
    U17's
    U15's
    Ladies Senior team
    Ladies u19's
    Ladies u17's

Before you can enter as far as I know.

You can't just say I'm applying for a senior LOI team and enter.
