Another strong weight loss for me on Saturday just gone, completely undone by the binge session I had last night, I'd still feeling full now after it, totally wasn't worth it! :(

Oh well blow outs are needed every now and then, just need to get back on track this week.

    your consistency is amazing

Fair play, Loughc! You've made great progress.

I'm still tipping away. I've done a lot of lose a pound, put it back on etc, but I'm down 8.5lbs since Jan so I'm concentrating on how far I've come and not how far I have to go :)

Down 2lbs despite a hen night to make it two stone down since Christmas. Over the moon.

Expecting a gain next week due to Easter but very happy with progress

Just back from a weeks holiday. Landed home at 3am and was up at 6.30 for work so today is a write off anyway. Tomorrow it begins for me.

I will do the dreaded weigh in tomorrow morning in my birthday suit and post the weight here so it will shame me into doing something, although I am more concerned about aesthetics (and not having high blood pressure) than the actual weight.

Hope everyone is avoiding the Easter eggs.

    I'm not!!

If I can't have chocolate at Easter, what's the point of life? :pac:

Had the little one at the doc yesterday so and a bit of catch up night after the long haul flight. The wee one doesnt know whats going on as she has woken in a different place for the past week.

That's my excuse for not having a weigh. I will be concious of my eating from today. Not going mad on a diet as I dont want the shingles to return (am I getting enough excuses in).

Planning on a bit of jog tonight also.

Weighed myself today after a weekend (4days) of indulgence... pleasantly surprised to see I was only up 2lbs. A 10k run this morning and a pile of cleaning around the house is a good start for getting them back... will get a run in every day this week and back on track diet wise so happy enough I didn't go too mad.

Okay day 1 of the rehab from Christmas, new elf arrival, new course academic course started, and Shingles. From looking at the earlier posts people don't seem to be telling their weight but showing the fluctuations. I shall do the same.

So weighed in this morning which will be used as a figure to add and deduct weight. Not going massively after a weight goal more looking to fit in to older t-shirts. I will try a weigh in each week.

Had friends visiting at the weekend and spent Friday on the cider. Of course I am sick again, ripping sore throat and no energy but I thought I would hit the gym this morning anyway.

Hope all is going well with you guys.

Stick with it Jude, every journey starts with the first step.

Weighed myself again this morning & it seems my weekend of indulgence did no long term damage, down to just the 1 lb off my normal 'running' weight of 11st 7lbs. Delighted with that to be honest.

Fair play Jude, every journey has to start somewhere.

All Elves slept well last night so made it up myself early to get a bit of a workout done. Always a great way to start the day.

The thing is I can't blame the wee one for not sleeping. She goes down at 10:30pm and wakes at 7am. It's just that I don't get home till 7ishpm and then I take over/help with the wee one and dinner, bath time then clean up after she goes to bed. Then sleep.

It's more that I am the type of person who needs 7-8 hours sleep and that cannot be gotten at present. When I go to bed at 11 my OH has the light on reading so don't actually get to sleep till after 12. Get up at 5:45am for the gym this morning and didnt fit in my full work out so that'st going have to go to 5:20. So about 5 hours sleep.

And I know I have it way easier than others, plus I have been told by the ladies in work that I didnt have to carry a baby for 9 months. Just venting.

Went to the gym to a class last night and back again this morning. That's twice more than I have gone in weeks! Hoping to set out a routine for the week so that it becomes the norm.

It's not easy. Once young kids are involved it's very hard to stick to a schedule when it comes to doing things for yourself. I have learnt to be flexible and as I workout at home have been known to do them at any time from 5am to 11pm. A lot of times I haven't felt like doing anything however have dragged myself out of bed or off the sofa and always feel better after.

Nothing wrong with venting, is very important.

I don't think you are alone in this Jude! Having a baby is such a shock to the system! You suddenly realise how precious time is! Go easy on yourself - it's a tough transition for both parents, especially when you are working full time, trying to fit everything in and do your share of the baby tasks too.

And a good vent always helps :D

What I was trying to saying, just much better put.

Agree with the others above, once theres a baby in the mix all normality goes out the window. The normal distractions around work & socialising etc are bad enough distractions with respect to healthy eating & exercise, but throw a baby in there & thats that, so I'd not be too hard on yourself, thats simply life doing what it does.

As for venting, vent away, thats what this place is for. & FTR venting is good, bottling up does no one any good long term.

    A shucks guys, thanks.

Anywho, we are attempting to get the wee one asleep by 9:30 tonight and then I will try to get up early tomorrow for the gym again.

I think I will make egg muffins tonight to save time. Meal prep for the week I think will save a few hours.
    Egg muffins:
    Loads of eggs.
    Mushrooms
    Peppers
    Scallions
    Baking powder.

Make an omelette type mix and put in muffin trays. Hey presto. Breakfast and snacks in one.

It’s not easy Jude. I have a four year old and six month old and I had to abandon the attempt to get fit in favor of keeping on track with food/weighloss because to be honest we haven’t had a full nights sleep in six months and I don’t have the energy (still at least one wake a night here).

Put up 4lbs over Easter but back on track since so hopefully it’ll be off or at least a nice chunk of it this week

So I've had the last 2 weeks off plan! I'm committed to stepping back on the scales this Saturday and seeing what the damage is.

It'll not all bad as on Sunday just gone I took part in my very first 10km race, I never thought 5 years ago I'd ever do a 5km race let alone a 10km one, but I loved it and I've already signed up for another one in August!

    Well done to you Sir!

I was in that boat 3 years ago & progressed on to do a half dozen or so half marathons (Prefer the 10k & 5k now though as the longer ones are tough on the joints) But either way its a great sense of achievement when you manage it & realise you can actually do it.

If you're anything like me when I got into the running it'll all be about improving times now.

Coming into a great time of year for running too, the longer evenings are fantastic for getting out & stretching the legs.

Had a strong week in the gym (as in I went, not actually being strong). Weigh in this am is -0.5kg.

I should have lost more but I ate a large bag of humus crisps and a gluten free burger bun during the week.

I have two, possibly three, nights out during the week this week with work which may see me lose my loss (if that makes sense)

Working a mad week this week, got zero exercise in but missed a couple of dinners & lunches, nett result, down 3lbs to my lowest weight in as long as I can remember 11 stone 4lbs
Amazing what stress & coffee can do!

Havent missed a days training but I have fallen off the wagon food wise. In the last 7 days I have had:
    Pints at bd events
    1 Chinese takeaway
    Bacon at breakfast
    Hand full of keoghs crisps.

Is it an age thing or an american thing in that people are still using lbs in Europe?

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 27,554 Mod ✭✭✭✭Posy

I think they use kgs in mainland Europe, but still stones and lbs in Ireland and the UK?

Any time someone has a baby these days, the weight is still given in lbs and oz, never kilos.

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,250 ✭✭✭✭DvB

Was always stones and pounds when I were growing up so it just stuck that way for me. I use kg or newton's for work related stuff but always pounds for bodyweight. Similar for beer, it'll always be pints never litres.

I'd say a pint of beer, but a litre of water.
I measure my weight in stones and lbs, but when cooking it's usually kilos and grams.

I use feet and inches for my height, but also centimeters and meters for general measurements.
And I use celsius for the temperature of weather, but fahrenheit for body temperature.

    I'm pretty mixed up. :pac:

pint of beer, but a litre of water for me too.

But never lbs or stone since I was an early teen. We would get weighed and measured when training and that was always kgs and cms. When we had the wee one and our folks asked the weight, then asked in lbs we had to google it.

Anywho, went for a run last night, 8km (I'll leave the miles conversion up you guys), wanted 10km but was dying so I pulled the plug. I am seeing and feeling results but the scales are not complying.
