Similarly have kicked my in gear the last couple of weeks and cleaned up the diet big time. Haven't really upped the exercise yet just cut the calories. Doesn't make me grumpy (my wife might disagree!) however do feel more tired especially as cut carbs a fair bit.

I've been averaging 80k steps a week, so getting my 10k steps a day minimum, but that's all from walking.

I need to get my arse in gear and start jogging/running, I used to run alot but laziness and fear of getting back into that has stopped me getting back into it haha.

My problem is I hate running! I find it so boring, have tried headphone, listening to podcasts etc however just can't get into it. I try for awhile and then inevitably give up and feel bad so have stop even starting. Go out on my bike a bit which I like and walk a lot with the kids. When eldest cycles on her bike I have to walk really quickly/ semi jog to keep up, that is as close to running as I get!

I’m still doing SW and managing to stay on track. Just need another 1.5lb to hit two stone. I have started seeing a difference in my clothes which is good, still a long way to go!!

That's fantastic Kitten K, my SW group is on pause, my leader didn't opt in to do the virtual groups, she said that it doesn't fit in the Ethos of SW and she wouldn't be participating in it. I have to agree with her, paying for a zoom meeting after you weighted yourself in didn't seem right.

Well done for staying on track you are flying it!

A bit of a non scale victory here but in the last week, by resting heart rate has fallen from 63bpm to 59bpm in the past week. Which is always great trying to get the heart healthy.

It does go to show just how quickly your body starts repairing itself. So no matter how badly you go off plan or fall off the wagon there is always a way back.

I find the virtual group a great help, makes you more accountable knowing you have to send your weight to your consultant each week.

I'm like that with gyms, I just find them boring, music, podcasts tv, have tried the lot and they just do nothing for my attention span... can easily see myself never setting foot inside one ever again.

Funnily enough since 'retiring' from competitive sport I find running a fantastic outlet for stress relief, its a real head clearing 'me' time so I find beneficial to my mental health as much as my physical.

Nothing like getting home from a run after work, warming down, nice shower & change into some comfy clothes & just relax for the evening... bliss.

I find when I'm running regularly I sleep better too which is another bonus as I've been a poor sleeper pretty much all my life and suffer from bouts of insomnia which is so miserable I'd do anything to avoid it.

I use to go to the gym a lot before kids came along, just don't have the time now. That feeling you get from running I use to get from going to the gym. I tried to work out at home and have done it one and off over the last few years however have been very slack/lazy the last year or so.

I'm a poor sleeper as well, always have been, so when kids came been up during the night was not such a big adjustment for me. Quite often I could wake up at 3am, wander into the kids rooms to check on them, go downstairs and read or get a drink and then head back to bed and hopefully fall a sleep for a few more hours.

Hasn't been happening as much since been at home all the time as the last couple of months have been full on, especially since my wife went back to work. Still get up at 6am every morning and get about an hour to myself before anyone else surfaces. This is my 'me' time :)

Like that I found the gym didn't work for me, I tried a few times over the years but I couldn't take to it. I'm also a bad sleeper, and it's gotten worse since the pandemic. I'm determined to get better habits, reducing screen time in the evening, wind down earlier so I'm not staying awake so late.

Fitness wise, I'm a complete beginner, my fitness has never been so low. I moved out of a city last year, where I walked everywhere. My job changed, which meant more desk work and less running around. My health went downhill for a few months last year, but am on new medication, and am doing well aside from low energy levels. I had hoped to be trying out some form of exercise, but with the pandemic there's not a lot of options. I don't feel comfortable going out for the allowed 5km, I'm much too nervous about coming into contact with people.
I've been exercising indoors daily by following some beginner videos on YouTube. The first few days were really tough and it shocked me just how unfit I had gotten.
I've no weight loss yet (weighing myself just once a week, and it's been 2 full weeks since I started properly) but I'm really happy I've kept with it. I'm doing low impact low intensity work outs to start off getting my fitness up, I'm already finding the work outs easier as the days go on.

I really love going to the gym and lifting weights (not that it shows much), especially after a tough day at work. It replaces being able to take out aggression on a pitch. I find running the best for my mind. It is tough but really clears the mind.

Youtube is a great source for info.

The rabbit hole I call it. You start off looking as some and then an hour later you are looking at something completely different and wonder how did I get here!!

Just back from a run, my god is it warm out there. And the pollen count must be through the roof, normally doesnt affect me but my nose and throat are in bits after it. Raging my running masks still haven't been delivered by Amazon... 4 days late and counting.

Close but it was on a related video on YouTube she use to do weight loss and exercise vlogs. Remember when people used to vlog on YouTube. Before Instagram stories was a thing.

Posy went easy on you there, you wording was there for the taking. Down 1.2kg this week, mainly due to illness I would say. Though the illness has stopped my chocolate intatke so that helps.

Never got the youtube wormhole really, I find I get bored on it after a while. Maybe once or twice I got sidetracked but boredom kicked in soon enough & I went elsewhere.

Lost 2.5 stone here last year. This year has been diabolical. I’ve one week of the madness childminding and teaching at home to go and I’m going to try and get some me time to get Int he right headspace then

The right mind space is 100% the key. If I’m not in the right mind frame I dont go near any diet plan as I know it won’t work for me.

It’ll work for you when the time is right. Your mind will get there.

I've just signed up to Slimming World Online - I need to get a handle on things or the pregnancy weight will just become my normal weight! It's just structure that I need really - I know the SW plan like the back of my hand, so fingers crossed! We've booked a family photography session next month (in our garden, not a studio), so hoping to lose a few pounds before then and fit into something that doesn't look like a tent! :D

I took a break at the weekend for 2 days, up until then I had kept going each day. I'm also hoping to build up the confidence to go out for a walk to get in some steps. I'm cocooning due to being immuno compromised, and have been nervous of coming into contact with people.
Today was my first beginners HIIT work out, I surprised myself by keeping up with the trainer. During the last round I did slow down, but I finished it :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,812 ✭✭✭Jude13

HIIT kills me. I can run for 10km, do weights for a few hours. Give me Bronco's and bur pees and I am fainting and puking.

The gyms here open today, you can do one hour only and you have to book. No changing rooms, bring you own towels and water. i am in from 7pm to 8pm.

I’m managing on/off plan this week. Not eating brilliantly but definitely more good meals than bad ones. Trying to slowly reduce the sugar this week so the kick isn’t so bad next week
