If it was advertised as "Middle Aged Men in Fishnets Dancing Provocatively in Front of Children Story Time" no parent in their right mind would take their kids to it. But that's exactly what it is. Its so weird how pretty well established rules about what's appropriate for children go out the window when its somehow seen as "progressive"

Drag Queens dance and strips for kids in the King County Library...

    This is mental.

I don't see anyone stripping there. You must be seeing things?

It's not stripping but it's not right either.

Little boys dressed up as whores and dancing for men in nightclubs...This is Weimar Republic levels of degeneracy.

"Everyone here is so friendly,” Ruby tells AJ before they enter their first stop in Pittsburgh. Katya, playing a queen named Magda, is waiting in the dressing room to put the lie to that statement. “I knew closing those Planned Parenthood clinics would create a problem,” she tells Ruby when introduced to AJ. Meanwhile, Jinkx Monsoon is finishing her tuck as Edie (where have we heard that before?), who “used to be pretty” according to Ruby. They’re a golden comedic duo — “First kid I ever met who’s a top!,” Jinkx says after AJ demands she take her to the bar to get burgers.."

    https://www.vulture.com/2020/01/aj-and-the-queen-drag-race-appearances-rupaul.html

What I have quoted above came from Vulture.com, which is the entertainment part of a magazine called New York, which seems to be a reasonably well known publication, founded about 50 years ago. Just to give the provenance..

This is a story that I stumbled on a few days ago, but I have read zilch about it in general media. I find it very weird, but maybe I am mistaken here. It relates to drag kids. Ru Paul has a new Netflix show out called AJ and The Queen. It is about a drag queen called Ruby on a pitstop tour of clubs around America, trying to make money. Ruby has taken under his wing a 10 year old child, whose mother is a drug addicted prostitute. The child is a girl but likes to present as a boy because it brings her less trouble, the story goes.
In the second episode, which is briefly summarised in the magazine clipping above, a drag queen, not Ruby, but an overweight guy in bra, knickers and netting, is taking AJ for some food, because the kid insists on it - and the drag queen says as they exit stage right "First kid I ever met who is a top!"

As far as I know a top means the sexual partner who penetrates in gay sex. Maybe it means something else? Perhaps I am mistaken.

If it means what it generally means, how can Netflix distribute a series which not only has a gender non conforming child in very sexualised scenarios but also outright refers to or uses as a gag what I presume most would consider sex acts with a child, ie paedophilia?

I have seen the clip but it is on some conservative US website which I know will not be acceptable as media to many. It is very obvious what the drag queen implies. On Netflix....which is a huge media distributor.
I find this unsettling, surprising and weird. Am I odd to do so?

Saw the trailer for it the other day, absolutely disgusting degeneracy. I saw it and couldnt help but think that is just a soft intro to normalising paedophelia.

My understanding of the term 'top' would be the same as yours, Gynoid. This is really creepy, sleazy stuff. I used to think that things were getting better for kids who are lgbt but honestly, this has me worried. Why do the same boundaries not apply to these kids? It's making me angry!

I saw a few tiny clips. The acting is beyond atrocious. Cringe worthy. And yet there it is, on actual Netflix. A huge global media provider. Joking about a 10 year old kid being a top. Incredible.

I am not even at angry yet. Im still processing incredulous! Maybe Im mistaken about the import of the joke. All the conspiracy whackos who have been talking about the normalisation of paedophilia look a lot saner to me now. Damn :(

yeah, if not wanting children exposed to that makes me a bigot, ill go get a hat that says bigot so everyone knows. Id even go as far as to say I actually don't want to associate with anyone who's not a bigot if its the case.

    Yiz are all biggots

As someone who identifies as bisexual and still hasn't fully processed how difficult the thought of not being straight was back when I was a teenager, this makes me very angry indeed. LGBT kids are entitled to as much safe guarding and protection as every other child and when you're young and questioning yourself you need positive representation in the media. It was bad enough (actually, it was very bad) when there was no representation to refer to but this is a thousand times worse. It actually reinforces negative stereotypes and gives out a very warped message as to what gender identity and sexual orientation is about.

One has to wonder how it has come to this. Not being able to say this is the place called stop. This scene has been watched by millions and yet no one reports on it. Vulture reported it as comedy gold!

This Ru Paul stuff is also part of the movement to have drag queens read to small children, and there have been some crazy pictures from some of those events. Grown men in sexualised womens clothing rolling about on the ground with very small children lying on top if them while their lunatic parents cheer.

I remember those on boards who defended the proposal for Glitter Hole (!) to be reading to toddlers.

How can Netflix get away with this kind of sh1t. It is mad.

Don't even know who she is - just saw it on the front page of reddit and thought posters in this thread would be interested.

Is what she's like as a person relevant to discussion of the topic at hand?

Sure because she has a clear agenda. She is a deliberately contrary trans YouTuber, who will do pretty much anything for views and clicks.

I wish this thread would just disappear but it keeps being brought back to life.

Irrespective of your whatever your views on her may be, is anything she’s saying actually untrue or false?

Interesting. I would assume that they should be heard as they have valuable first hand experience.

Funny that if someone says something against your belief, it is automatically agenda driven and/or attention seeking.

    Very interesting.

****s sake. So weird. First of all it looks like a bar, why is there a kid there? Pretty sure the child didnt want to be sitting there like that in front of everyone(even if she apparently "asked for a better view"), she looks uncomfortable. Just all kinds of wrong

There is no rhyme or reason for doing crap like this.

Were a lot of the parents teachers ?

if her father is there he is a disgrace. I don't always believe in the slippery slope but damn if some aint trying to add P to the moniker. the ma'ams seem to want to cause a backlash

A belief in gender identity involves a level of faith as there is nothing tangible to prove its existence which, as something divorced from the physical body, is similar to the idea of a soul. - Colette Colfer

"Discussions related to child sexual exploitation as a phenomenon or attraction towards minors are permitted, provided they don’t promote or glorify child sexual exploitation in any way."

That is from Twitter's terms and conditions update March 2019.

Discussing attraction ie sexual to children is permitted. Twitter is rife with MAPS, NOMAPS, and so called no contact Virtuous Paedophiles. Half of all sexualised content re children found online was found on Twitter according to the Internet Watch Foundation in the UK. That there is a creeping campaign for the normalisation of paedophilia is hard to deny. In Ru Pauls popular Netflix show on a little gender uncertain 10 year old traveling with a drag queen the child was refered to as a top. James Cantor, prominent Canadian sexologist, says LGBT cannot pull the ladder up after them when it comes to P. https://twitter.com/JamesCantorPhD/status/1081657375122227200?s=19
