Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Footpad must be unlikely to run given the massive drift

awful weather, expect a heap of withdrawals
    This could be a mess

Joanna Donnelly over here. I think it will go ahead. It is pouring down here today, I live about 2 miles from the track. However it is to stop raining tonight and be clear tomorrow, Saturday and light rain on Sunday. It is not going to snow.

That being said it is ****ing brassers outside, so I think on Saturday it is eight cans of Guinness and the couch for me, followed by the match. I might drop up on Sunday.

I can see the racecourse from where I'm sitting. Rain/sleet has been blowing in sideways most of the day.

Definitely looks it - out to 2s and all red!

All last year I was bigging up Footpad, comparing him to vautour etc
The only hope for us Footpad fans now is he runs in the ryanair, and is like vautour ie a cheltenham horse!

Well Monalee is 9/1 for the Irish Gold Cup on Saturday.

Presume the ground will be nice and soft.

Not sure about that. No rain last night and none expected till Sunday afternoon.

Say the worse case scenario is the freeze.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,965 ✭✭✭✭Gavin "shels"

Leopardstown RC just tweeted saying no frost there - meant to get the coldest tonight though so time will tell.

Must be a high risk it'll be off due to frost. You're relying on the temps to rise steadily from morning through to lunch, and it doesn't look good currently from looking at potential temps.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,625 ✭✭✭RivetingRoger

    Live on ITV too

If they’re issuing bullish bulletins all week about it going ahead just to boost sales etc it would be rather disgusting to see it cancel. They have all the data on front of them, hope they have not been leading people astray.....

Well one thing they absolutely won't do is tell the truth until the latest possible moment if it is likely to be off.

Hope it goes ahead. The NH season needs a good weekend to get things going pre Cheltenham.

I'd say its 1/100 it goes ahead.

To keep sales ticking along etc....

That said, I agree that it should be alright. Here's hoping anyway.

If off then surely it would be refunded right? So not sure what the point of it would be.

Keogh said on Friday: "It's going to be cold National Hunt weather but we have no concerns for either Saturday or Sunday.

"We were always comfortable with the forecast and that remains the case. We're in a very good position and the track is in great shape. There is no frost at all in the ground."
    We are good to go.

If the quotes in the week leading up to it were in any way negative people who might be considering going, travelling etc would be less likely to buy advance tickets.

Anyway, it'll be on and that's that. :)

Its not meant to go above freezing until about 11am tomorrow morning, with max temp of around 4/5C by 1pm. Plenty of sun which will help so hopefully all good.

    I'm heading up on Sunday.
It looks like a very decent card. Really looking forward to it.

Heading both days. So if anyone wants to loose money along with me

    12:50 Leopardstown
I’m not sure I fancy anything near the top of the market here and it really doesn’t look like any of these will be playing a part in March. That said Rhinestone could well have enough improvement in him to play a part here. I though he was a certainty for the bumper last year until the rains came, and this ground here should suit. He was definitely unlucky last time out and I just think he will be steadily improving this year. 14/1 looks a bit of value
    1 Point win 14/1 VC/Coral 12/1 generally
    1:25 Leopardstown
Petit Mouchoir is one of my horses to follow this year and simply put he is probably as good as anything else in this field if Apples Jade doesn’t perform. 16/1 is certainly too big and worth a small bet just in case.
    1 Point win 16/1 generally
    2:00 Leop
I’m afraid heart before head here but I still think Jezki has loads to offer even on some of his form this year. Of this mark on good ground he can win. The fav is a silly price. I’m finding it hard to see him in the first 6 here.
    1 Point EW 33/1 Paddy 6 places
    2:35 Leop
Meticulous didn’t seem to want to battle last time after a few bumps on the way and I think he could well be underrated here at a huge price. I’m not sure there is much between the rest of the field after the FAV and 33/1 looks great value.
    1 Point EW 33/1 Paddy/Betfair
    3:45
I think Us and Them is being underrated here. He is a superb jumper and if this race is a big burnout which it may well be, he stays well and should be suited by it. He looks to be in the top 3 here to me and 20/1 is bigger than I expected.
    1 Point EW 20/1 paddy/betfair/vc

Aidan I think u love jezki even more than me ☺

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,775 ✭✭✭✭Slattsy

Paloma Blue to bolt up tomorrow and make my 25/1 Arkle bet look tasty :)

Melon to beat AJ and then go on and win the CH.

    Two bets tomorrow:
Come to Me each way in the first and Mt Leinster to put it up to Envoi Allen.

Finding it hard to see Wonder Leish in the first 6 or Jezki outside the first 6?

I just realised they have 7 places 33/1 with hills and boosted it to 37/1 . Needless to say I've topped up .

Going for Ordinary World at 12/1 w/o Min with Ladbrokes and Coral. He is very solid in these races and will be ridden to pick up the pieces.

    1 Point win w/o Min 12/1 lads/coral
