FTTH available or not?

Comments

    Hi,
https://www.eir.ie/broadband/1000mb-fibre/ says FTTH should be available at my address
https://fibrerollout.ie/rollout-map/can-i-get-eir-fibre-broadband/ also says FTTH should be available at my address.

That being the case why are eir sales team saying the best they can offer is 2M broadband and not fibre?
    Thanks
    Hi vistaphotos,

Sorry to hear you are receiving conflicting information.

Could you PM your address and eircode I can check this for you.

No sign of it at my address either despite fibrerollout.ie saying I should have had it by the end of 2018.

https://www.eir.ie/broadband/1000mb-fibre/ now says FTTH is -not- available at my address but will be rolled out soon. When I fill in the form to register my interest it replies with the following:

"We estimate that we will be in your area between the dates of October and December 2017. One of our customer service agents will contact you once you’re ready for connection."

    ----
https://fibrerollout.ie/rollout-map/can-i-get-eir-fibre-broadband/ still says that FTTH -is- available.

Guess it's a case of going checking poles to see if the relevant black boxes are in place :-)

So guessing this is what's needed on the pole and inside the house for FTTH.
Would be thankful if anybody can confirm.
    Thanks.

How do you register interest? Can't find that anywhere

Yes. A cable is brought from the box on the pole (the distribution point) to your home either overhead or underground. If overhead a hole will likely need yo be drilled to allow the cable to enter. The cable is then terminated on the white box on the left in your above photo. The box on the right converts the fibre to Ethernet which then connects to a router.

    Hi vistaphotos,

I completely understand the frustration that this is causing you. I have passed on the message you received regarding when fibre will be available.

I understand the confusion that this is causing.

As soon as fibre is available in your area it will be updated

    My experience:
    - Entered eircode at https://www.eir.ie/broadband/1000mb-fibre/
    - Received a response that FTTH not available but would be available soon, with a form to register my interest
    - Caveat: I think records for my eircode have been changed on the backend recently as less than a week ago it said FTTH -was- available, while now it says it's not. All very strange :)

Try here: https://www.airwire.ie/index.php/avail It's much better. Gives a date if it can, says coming soon if it's on the way or not available if it's not coming anytime soon.
