I've searched through a lot of the threads on here and there doesn't seem to be much information on student villages in regards to my specific situation. My situation is this: I'm just back from Canada after a 2 year Visa. Completely new to Limerick and currently attending the Access Course in UL. If all goes well I'll see myself into a degree course next year via Direct Progression and I'll be entering 1st year as a 25 year old.

Provided I even secure a place, which student village would suit me best? I'm looking for somewhere with a balence. Where I can study but also meet new people and have the occassional party. I dont want to live with messy 17/18 year olds living away from home for the first time but I dont want to live with oldies in their final year who cant have the craic every now and then. It would be nice to live somewhere where I could make a close circle of friends since I'm just new to Limerick.

Am I too old for Plassey and could I even get any study done there? How about Thomond or Drumroe? Any information would be greatly appreciated!

I wouldn’t recommend Plassey anyway. Lots of party’s and messy first years! I’d say thomond or Dromroe could be your best bet, super close to all of the buildings too.

What type of group would I get matched with though? Mature students older than me? Post grads? Younger 1st years since I'll be a first year?

25 is an odd age to be a mature student socialisation wise. Too old for the young crowd and too young for the old crowd. Caught on the fence :o

You could get in contact with campus life services and ask them, I’m sure they get these questions.

With regard to age you’d probably be better living with postgrads, but I’m not sure how they match people to houses. Best bet is to ask them.

    Best of luck!
