Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

No spend the same budget on a similar vintage but more mainstream make with wet brakes that always has a residual value and easily available parts.

Fair point, I'll take it on board. When she would only be used on average for an hour a day, it's hard to part with that much money. Hence why I'm still searching ðŸ˜

Sugarbowl what is the tractor used for is it just feeding bales for the winter in a yard and a bit of fertlizer spreading during the summer and topping?

Yeah the usual... bales, fertiliser, bit of light slurry work, transport box etc etc
Nothing too extreme. Terrain is a bit hilly so I would want to be hitting the 80hp mark I'd imagine. I've been advised to stay away from the older Fords. And I'm not too keen on Zetors and the older cases either.

I am not a fan of floor change Masseys. If your land is hilly you may need the 4WD if it was flatish you would get away with a 2WD. Contracting out all slurry work would reduce the heavier work.I have a CX 90 4WD and a 2WD CX80( was not worth trading it in and would have to buy fertlizer crane anyway). A loader is required if stacking bales if you can let them on the ground you may not need a loader but a loader is handy. If you want to stay below 15K and want a fresh tractor you will need to make some compromises.

This 4230 is in NI and is about 15K

This is similar 2WD about 5K cheaper.

This is a CX100 in NI about but it is about 18K

If you can manage without a loader here are fresher ones

The one in tipperary is sold but was good value at 14K. You will find it hard to get the smell of a decent New Holland for less than 20K

Had the same issue here looking at tractors for the best part of 6 months around the 20-25k mark. Eventually bought a JD 6320 with 7500 hrs, 2 weeks ago for 30k. Used to belong to a fella local enough who kept it very clean and didn't do much donkey work with. He traded it to TFM before Christmas and I came across it there. I found it very difficult to get something decent for 20k or even 25k.

Spread the payment out over a few years and write it off against tax. My logic is the last thing you want is for a new tractor to start giving trouble. Costing more money regardless and its not much good to you in a garage getting fixed because you thought you'd saved a few thousand. No guarantee it wont happen me now but fingers crossed, it wont!
