I'm in the market for some new gear, and I do like a bargain. I was thinking about holding out until the show. But I've never been before.

Is it worth it to hold out for the show?
Is there any day in particular is the best day to go?

You're going to get mixed opinions on the gear on sale at the show.

My experience has been negative, both a full set of RST textiles which I can only assume were seconds because they leaked like a motherfvcker. The dealer was English so I'd no way of returning the crap.

That said I bought a leather cut from another English dealer at the last show and it was top quality, I love it. A cut isn't everyone's taste in item of mothercycling clothing but I'm so used to wearing one that I hate being without.

I've bought rubbish helmets there too thinking I was getting a bargain, and gloves too.

If you're going to buy try buy from Irish stands then you've some comeback if it turns out to be bad gear.

If you're on a budget then buy on the last day in the last few hours and from British stands, they're trying to off load stuff they don't want to take back home but don't spend big.

    That's just been my experience.

I go just for the social side, I always meet someone I haven't seen in donkeys, have the craic. Look at some bike porn I could never afford and check out the custom bikes if that's your thing.

Just something to bear in mind. If you can leave some gear in boxes on your bike do so because it gets very crowded and very warm, and once you're inside you won't be allowed in and out to your bike without some difficulty, at least that's been my experience (once again).

If you're travelling far for the show looking to grab a bargain I wouldn't bother.

If you know your size you are better off buying on the web.

I don't remember seeing too many bargains there the last time.

    Also.

Not sure how accurate this is, but I've heard that Revenue are more active at shows like this in recent years, The Horse show, the Ploughing, etc checking stallholders, and that sellers from England are put off coming.

Give Bray Honda and RPM Drogheda a shout as well - even before the show. They have both sold some Africa Twin's recently. Both very good to deal with.
