I have a Gerkros Boiler with a Riello 40 burner. Last night it just stopped (with the tank half full). I learned that when trying to restart the burner, I hear that it attempt to do that but fails and then just stops again.

I know this is not much detail (as I know next to nothing yet about the matter, but learning as the day moves on) but maybe you have some advice of things I can try that do not require me to take it apart and ruin or electrocute myself ;)

Youve tried the reset button on the front i presume ?

have you recently had oil delivered?

    - Could be dirt or air in the fuel feed. Give the Filter a couple of light smacks with a wrench or hammer.

    When was it last serviced?

If doing yourself make sure power is off.

Remove inspection plate, take out any inserts and clean out any soot.

The eye or jet may be dirty also.

As above filter could be blocked or dirty, clear these and then bleed the system to be sure.

Turn all back on and try.

I tried the reset button. When I press it, the burner humms --- first silent, then louder (like it tries to ignite), but then turns off again. All lights are on (on the controller).

Not sure when it was last serviced. Bought the house 2 months ago and the boiler was there ... no documentation. No notes. No nothing.

Even if you manage to get it to work,it probably will not be working correctly or efficiently.Id advice to get a competent service technician to service/ repair boiler. You should get a flue gas analysis printout after the service

I got a new burner as the old one has seized to turn after 22 years of operation. I think that is ok. ;)

    Bit late to be asking..........
Personally I wouldn't spend that amount on a 22 year old boiler.
