Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

So, looking to the experiences of the various members here!

I've had a FR 220 since 2014, and its starting to play up (freezing a lot etc). So reckon it's time to replace.
    • Generally I like the functionality, although the chest strap stopped working ages ago
    • I would like to have HR (preferably optical) back again.
    • Budget about €200, but might get permission from the boss to stretch it if I can justify it.
    • Mostly run, but i do record my cycling commutes (at moment i just manually change the activity type on Strava after it uploads)
    • I do love data!

I've been looking and seem to have 3 options, Polar M430, M600 or the FR235. If there was a deal on one of the more expensive Garmins (735 or 645), I think they would be good too.

My initial thoughts are that I like Garmin, and the 235 is available kinda cheap these days because its old. But that's also a negative in a way, my new watch is actually a 3+ year old design.
The polars seem impressive value, but if I have optical HR, seems a shame that it doesn't consistently monitor it?

So any thoughts experiences etc? thanks!

Polar M430 has continuous HR monitoring option. Great value for 140 pounds on amazon. Got one to replace my m400 last month. Very similar but some good software improvements. Website to sync data excellent.

The 235 is very hit and miss with the HR monitor. Not that I care all that much about the HR data but, for example, the first couple of miles of an easy run yesterday had my HR at 180. It was really in the 130-140 region. Other than that it's a good watch.
