Still a beautiful cold day here in Laois not a hint of snow or clouds for that matter.
I really think the general public are expecting a huge about of snow tomorrow/ Thursday.
Got a text from sons school saying they are monitoring the weather situation and will advise about possible closures Thursday into Friday.
My wife told to work from home Thursday because of the snow storm coming.
Are people watching a different forecast than me or what ????

Skies very dark here near Mallow. No snow shower here yet today just hail/sleet.

It’s a good job the Irish met eireann have only issued an advisory so. They are waiting as long as possible. By the way this never really upgraded or downgraded across all models. Only the ECM ever showed a very snowy scenario. The GFS and other models always looked mixed. Experience would also err on side of this being mixed. Obviously it hasn’t happened yet but the dust is starting to settle on a likely outcome that will not be ‘red warning’ or maybe not even ‘orange’. Where is the entrenched cold to deliver such a snowfall?

Usually it’s the other way around with GFS and ECM.

The BBC have a lot of snow for the southern half of the country.

Coldest cloud tops currently hitting the west coast now as the coldest pool of upper air (500 hPa -40 °C) maximises instability and shower intensity. Tops are at about 21,000 ft.

Lough Fea (225 m amsl) in Northern Ireland reporting 1 cm snow depth, temp.0.4, dp -0.4, wbt ~0.0. No other stations reporting any snow. Knock was reporting <1 mm patchy coverage this morning but nothing since lunchtime.

I better send these to work and tell them I can't even work from home, its so bad.

Cos you know snow, up the mountains. not near work or home.
    but you know.

    Sleet shower now in cork.

Edit: radio just said lying snow in mallow. Still find it amazing the differences in a short few km

Edit edit: snow now, wet but blowing in the wind. Temp dropped to 1 degree from 3

"snowing" in Blackpool Retail Park now too. Not cold enough to stick to anything though. Definitely small powdery flakes in there but I'd classify it more as sleet.

No impact to traffic. No impact to staff in the office (still working rather than staring out the window).

    and it's stopped... :D

It didn’t stick where I am but nice to see all the same.

Snow should lie more readily after sunset. Should be fairly widespread light cover by morning. Unlikely in Dublin though unfortunately but cold and icy

Sky turning grey.Wintery showers on the way here, hail/snow that fell earlier is still lying on the grass in places so we may have some cover this evening.
