Lovely photo. I'd say impassable alright, but only with summer tyres

It’s pot luck with this sort of set up. Your either lucky enough to be in the line of showers or you aren’t. That said I would imagine most areas esp higher ground in the east Kerry north cork region that usually see snow can expect a nice few cm in the morning.

Also the heavier the showers the better. Starting here again but light snow so far.

Edit: much heavier now. Roads turning white as well as everywhere else. I’ve had my fix whatever Thursday might bring.

Is cork airport forecasting a thunderstorm from 6-8pm possibly?

    Thundersnow? O.o

Any advanced TAF readers around? Still getting to grips with these things.

    Graupel in Corofin Co Clare
    Quite heavy now.

Fairly standard north westerly affair in Letterkenny, a brief covering this morning from a heavy shower but all melted quick enough. Nothing but a few light sleet showers since then, would expect a covering again by morning but doesn't look like it'll amount to much more than last week

Just a 30% probability. Shannon and Knock have a longer chance.

I don't think Shannon has any chance of thunder the last time I heard a clap of thunder there was back in the 80's around the time of live aid....

I used to always describe heavy snow showers with low visibility as a ‘Blizzard’

Then Storm Emma came along last year and made me realize that I’ve been using the ‘Blizzard’ term incorrectly.

There is a risk of another weather front moving in of the Atlantic on Sunday leading to further heavy snowfall but this is still 5 days out.
