Heavy rain here in Whitechurch, Co. Cork (Blarney side of the city, similar elevation to Cork airport).

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,219 ✭✭✭Gaoth Laidir

Coldest overnight air minimum was -5.8 °C/grass minimum -10 °C at Dublin Airport. Mullingar next on -4.8/-8, while Oak Park was -3.7/-10.

In the North, Magilligan No 2 (Derry coast) has an air minimum of -8.5 °C and a grass minimum similar.

Current temperatures all well above these values and rain being reported at all stations. TAFs all exclude snow, except Knock, which has light snow on and off between 8 am and 7 pm.

Sleety/icy rain shower now in Dublin 16. 2.2c DP 0.0c atm.

Yeah. Not looking good. Would of expedited anything falling now to be snow.

Really don’t want any snow or ice here, would be most inconvenient as I have work (outside) for the next few days and it can’t be put off and I’ll need to traverse molls gap in Kerry a couple of times.

Can you divert via kenmare etc? I lived out that way and in frost etc would go the long way round easily ? Either from Sneem or cutting across at Blackwater

Any reports from Roundwood or Annamoe in Wicklow?, if anywhere is going to do well from this its there.

Have a weather station?, why not join the Ireland Weather Network - http://irelandweather.eu/

Yeah. Not looking good. Would of expedited anything falling now to be snow.

Rain in the west and southwest will gradually move up into other areas, turning heavy and persistent, especially in southern counties. The rain will also turn to sleet and snow for a time over parts of Connacht, Leinster and inland Munster.

    Supposed to start as rain

Looking at radar, this is just an isolated shower for south Dublin/north Wicklow.

Icy/sleety rain (still) here in Dublin 16.

The wind and I slept blissfully until after four o'clock...

Woke to bitter cold but the cats are almost all out...

Interesting day ahead but being where we are is a snow deterrent.

Someone told me a snowman story!

A man made a huge snowman near his gate ( not on the road). Great big thing it was... A passing truck driver decided to destroy it and drove right at it.... Yep, it was built around an old tree stump and the driver lost half the front of his truck

So beware snowmen ;) They take revenge....

The My Elevation app is excellent for getting exact altitudes of any location. Definitely download it.

1-2 reports of some icy roads around Blarney / Tower still. I expect the rain to take care of that quickly though.
