Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Bargaintastic and potentially an error.

It is allowing reservations on the basis of ordering it in, this is going to be a sh*tstorm :)

Wonder is it meant to be an iPad pro and they put the wrong item up.

The link sale is for the Apple Pencil

It's got to be an error. If not it's the deal of the year. Buy it and sell it straight away for a profit.

I get a java stack trace error when trying to reserve it now. Was definitely an error. Wonder will they honour the reservations that did go through. Have to be up early for the bargains here

    Possibly noticed their error.

Plenty prefer by now I imagine. Here's hoping they accept the reservations.

What are the chances of them honoring this price?

I can still reserve for collection in Limerick for this week, can't see them honouring it, but fantastic if they do!

    Just reserved one in dublin

There's something not right about this.

I've tried to reserve it twice in two different locations where it's showing "stock available" and then after I enter my email and phone number and press "reserve", it then says "out of stock".

Not necessarily an error. Never saw it in Europe before, but Apple have been offering massive discounts on previous models in the US for some time. They don’t want to sell the extra stocks themselves to protect their premium brand and prefer to let them go through other channels as temporary promotional offers.

See a similar type of offer in the US: https://appleinsider.com/articles/19/01/23/lowest-price-ever-apples-top-of-the-line-13-macbook-pro-with-touch-bar-for-1999-900-off

Great bargain anyway as the new models are not that much different.

    The same happened to me...

Also, The reservation email I received has no reservation number or details of the product.

Still showing as 799 for me. Have a reservation number, will be exciting on Wednesday heading in!

I also managed to reserve.. email came through with a reservation no and the item info. However I reserved an item for store pick up before and never received a txt to say it arrived in store - assuming the same will happen with this meaning you'll have to go to the desk to ask and then it won't be honoured!!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,573 ✭✭✭WhiteMemento9

Argos have been good about honouring these type of errors in the past but this is such a big ticket item and such a huge error that it seems unlikely.

    100% an error

Price back up and it was half price Norton security.

I have tried to reserve, got an email but no reservation number or item details listed. I presume this means I'm too late?

  • Registered Users Posts: 530 ✭✭✭bruce wayne

Where do you order from, none of the reservations I made in Dublin stores had reservation numbers on the emails??

I am not getting a reserve number on emails. Will I get a text with on

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,028 ✭✭✭✭ButtersSuki

Tried reserving one and whilst I got an email there's no product info. or price on said email.....which isn't how reservations are normally sent....which in turn leads me to suspect this is an error that won't be honoured for this type of reservations (the people who reserved when there was physical product in store might be luckier however).

My MBP died a few weeks ago, is irreparable and I haven't been able to replace it. On the offchance anyone reserved in Dublin and doesn't actually want theirs I'd be eternally grateful if they would consider me if passing up the reservation code.....can show pics/video of the MBP if anyone thinks I'm BS'ing btw!

If you have no reservation number it means its out of stock.

I had issues getting a reservation code on number of stores in Dublin, it would just throw up an error saying "out of stock". Finally managed to get one from Dundrum store (got a confirmation and email with reservation code for next Saturday). Might be worth a try for those still looking.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,157 ✭✭✭✭Alanstrainor

I have a reservation code for Swords, I very much doubt they'll honour it though.

Hi. If anyone not using reservation could you please pm me the code.
Need present for my son's 21st birthday and can't afford full price for MacBook.
    Thanks
In Limerick but I will travel..

Well thats predicting the future. If the price doesnt change you can always use self service tills. I got a Mac Air for 110 from Argos few years back also posted here. Misprice that was meant to be 1100.

Well one thing is for sure for those that have a res number:

You couldn’t have a better chance of it being honored with any on there retailer. Argos have historically been fantastic with these glitches, although this is mammoth..... but then again, so was the Air ;)

I am sure a lot of people reserved some for resale. These will easily go for 1100-1200 on Adverts etc.

Definitely. Considering the exact same model is €1799 on the Apple.com/ie site

If they had stock in-store this morning you had a chance, but doubt they will honor these, then again sometimes the publicity generated is worth more than the loss

Are you sure ? - The one from Argos is a June 2017 Model, while the latest one on Apple's site is a July 2018 Model. So certainly the RRP listed in argos site isn't accurate.

I would say the value will be around €1200, so them selling it at €800 gives me hope that they could honour it. Plus based on this thread, stock was very low and you didn't have people ordering 20 at a time. So I am a bit hopeful, but time will tell :)
