The word is "talent" (according to Dee Forbes, anyway)

You would have thought that one of the first things an "expert in porn" would become proficient at would be plugging a set of headphones in to the laptop and disabling the on board speakers.

    That laugh is ridiculously forced

They are not used to you going to them on time, Ray. They thought they had a good 5 minutes before they were needed

He's having a howler today, multiple dropped calls with the last guest and now can't connect to the newsroom.

Having seen his bosses performance before the PAC committee yesterday,he will NEVER be sacked. She is every bit as incompetent as he is.
As far as she could tell only 2 of the top "talent" in RTE were represented by the same agent ;)

lol a "professional broadcaster" saying we had a good run with porn interview wow

This sounds so bad I think it might be worth a listen back.

I feel bad for Ray D'Arcy because he is clearly quite a sensitive person, based on things he has said on the public record.

As nice a guy as he is, I'm sure that even he can accept the obscenity of his remuneration. If he were on a PAYE salary of €100k, which would probably be a generous salary, I don't think he'd get any of this backlash. In that sense, the criticism is fairly self-induced.

Anyone over 150k in rte is stealing a living and I’m being generous the

In fairness to him that was in reference to a good run, ie length of time they were chatting without the line dropping or feedback as the interview had started off shakey and they had to go to a break.

Why is it RTE constantly having a bad line, call dropped etc - it's every program
And they seem to use Whatsapp for everything - probably penny pinching so they don't pay to call people
Listen to other stations and they have perfect call quality from the other side of the world but RTE can't get a clear line to someone down the road from them

It is my understanding that an employer is not allowed to employ anyone on contract do do a job if the job continues/ does not have a specific end date. A company building a bridge would have a specific end to the job once the bridge is build - so it can be built on contract. Another example would be where RTE contracts Shin A Wil to make a programme on a topic. If a job/ work continues these person doing the work should be EMPLOYED FULLTIME by the company. So
So, how come that, for example Tubridy,Darcy and Duffy are allowed to work on a contract basis year on year, year on year, year on year, year on year , year on year , ad infanitum. Basically doing the same type of work. It suits all of them for tax purposes.
Has Revenue not copped on that these guys are on contract for years,- rolling over from contract to contract.?
When a company wants to get something done on contract. Eg RTE wants to find a programme presenter, I have never seen such a position being advertised/put out to tender. I find out who has got the gig via national media when the whole thing is ‘ sorted out’

What do these three, for example, do anyway. Ha,HA, HA, HA, HAING,asking questions re running competitions, interviewing , pushing buttons, giving opinions, talking about what in in the papers/ in previous programmers /what they say when cycling into work, playing music, pontificating on pet subjects. Listening for guidance from ‘upstairs ‘ and similar type of stuff.

Each programme consists of a mix of the above so THE JOB is basically the same no matter what ‘ NEW’ programme RTE comes up with. Remember the recently revamped Primetime Programme it came up with. Backdrop and desks were changed and they did a lot of interviewing each other.
    I rest my case

    ^^^

I think the wrinkle in these cases is that RTE is actually in contract with a company (not the individual) to supply services ie present programmes. The contracting company then decides to give the job to the presenter. Neat, eh?

The reason the jobs don't get advertised is that the Talent Agency MD is probably on speed dial....

It's an outage! Men in suits in government have prevented the women from buying clothes! How dare they!!

I wonder did anyone consider that as a lot of people were working from home, restaurants, pubs etc clothes people didn't feel a need to buy disposable fashion, but no....it's the men's fault.

    Eoghan.

Jesus, don't mention his name or you'll get the thread locked down!:eek:

Id say every fashion designer in the country is dead jealous of how much free advertising RTE gives to Courtney and Lennon for their clothes and shows. They are allowed on RTE anytime they like to basically get free advertising for whatever private businesses theyve got on the go, no-one else gets that privledge. Its pretty easy to run a successful business when the national broadcaster is giving you free 10 minute slots to advertise it every couple of months.

I heard him tell the nation that we have all been miserable and now everyone is happy, he then gauged the contributors mood and was not content with her happiness and optimism and when she then mentioned her mother had dementia in a home he was all “that’s big.......no that’s big.....that’s big” and tried to steer it towards misery and the cheeky caller shut it down and continued discussing whatever she was contracted to discuss:)
