Can't wait for the 2020 episode of Reeling In The Years. Love to re-live the start of the Plague in excruciating detail.

But for now, the Great Recession.

Here we go again. More "men must do better" with absolutely zero ideas on how that should happen in reality. Ray just says it to make himself feel better.

And if you had died when you crashed your plane, how many women would that have saved from being sexually assaulted.

Jesus, you go on the air to do a quiz - have a bit of crack, maybe win a prize - and you have to field questions about your late husband (how old was he, how did he die, etc).

Tubs asked a kid about her two year olds sister heart surgery. She had just called into win a book voucher.

The whole day time line up are ghouls.

Sounded like he stopped himself going into other stuff with the callers, like Covid vaccines etc.. Could hear him saying "...no no, we won't get into that", obviously the production team were signalling him to just get on with the quiz. Ray lining himself up to take over from Duffy by the looks of it.

The man who ruined a Pamela Anderson interview, she was great craic and actually took pity on him especially when he tried a boob joke

Listened to him “interviewing” (I use the word in the loosest possible way) Dr Marie Cassidy today. It was awful. And banal.

He started by saying that the last time that they had talked was before her book was published, and that at the time she obviously knew she was writing a book. I laughed out loud about the possibility that she didn’t know she was writing a book!

He then said that she clearly had to develop a relationship with the cadaver, to develop an empathy with them, to understand what happened to them. To her enormous credit, she didn’t laugh, but said that, as a scientist, she was determined to get to the bottom of it, to solve the puzzle and so on.

The whole interview had Ray framing questions, which themselves took about five sentences, ending with his stab (see what I did there?) at what the answer would be. Unsurprisingly, these turned out to be so far wide of the mark, but Marie Cassidy addressed them with more dignity than he deserved.

As a previous poster has said, his reference to her glamour was unnecessary and cringeworthy. She was engaging, interesting and thoroughly professional

If only the same could be said for the host. €500k a year. Just think about it. More than double what Marie Cassidy earned.

Darcy is one thick stupid useless broadcaster

He jumps on every liberal cause going to try and stay in with the crowd but he has no inherent interest.

My theory is the wife of his kicked him to get back to rte and of course rte offered him absolutely crazy obscene money

He has no drive or ambition or interest in his show and why would he when rte have paid him stupid money

He couldn't care less. He yawns and sighs his way through the show.

The insincerity and falseness oozes from him.

If he had an ounce of respect left for rte and the taxpayer he'd throw in his notice and quit broadcasting for good

And pay back the obscene crazy money rte stupidly pay him

Honestly, I think RTÉ need to make Ray a studio of his own, with simplified controls in a "Tomy My First Computer" theme - there are obviously too many buttons for him.

He made a bollox of the button at the outset and blamed it on a "topsy turvy weekend".

I do feel sorry for whoever the man or woman is, who has to produce this absolute no hoper for an hour and a half every day.

I'll beat the dead horse again, it's absolutely easy depending on what system is in use by RTÉ radio presenters. A university radio station volunteer could do it.

Song, Intro/what's on the show today, Song. First item on the running order.

I just listened to it, to see could it have been that bad, and it was.

His interview with Dr. Cassidy on Thursday; he brought up about a character in a film or series doing what she does & being attractive; think he used terms like small or pettite & blonde and then said you're our version or similar; I meant wtaf like?

The woke brigade'd be all over this to the BAI or RTE Complaints Dept. if they'd heard that; I just cringed thinking of the awkwarndess of it all, how inappropriate it was & the fact she's at home in London instead of being able come into studio probably saved her walking out of the interview; I'd've hung up the phone; she was too polite in how she accepted what she said; only reason I can think of was maybe the books didn't shift as well as she/her publisshers thought they might; like we're talking about "Christmas" books after St. Patks. Day; it's a book I'm humming & hawing over buying to be honest, have heard mixed enough reviews.

Then he had Fr. D'Arcy on today and live on air he said it, that "they're in my ear" (clearly referring to the producer/s) about having to go to Nuacht.....but he still gave Fr. D'Arcy an extra minute or two anyway......

The 10 minutres between 15:50-16:00 passes quick enough when listening; surely you start making on-air nudges towards the exit; read out the listeners texts from about 15:55 after finishing up the interview & go to a 2 minute ad break at 15:57, coming back at 15:59 something to lead into & hand over to Nuacht bang on the 4 mark.

    Not that difficult.

TF I've an alternative at 4; his Quiz of the Day sounds cringe-worthy.

    Just a thought:

Has anyone ever heard Ray do any interview that could even remotely be construed as having intellect, depth, nuance, detail, knowledge and importance?

I honestly cannot recall anything even close..

So so bizarre this lad is still gigging
