Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The fact that he asked what colour the perp's skin was in telling. Regardless of the answer, he asked and made a choice to go out (every night for a week) with the intention of assaulting possibly murdering any man of that race who caused trouble. Reagrdless of what the victim's answer was, his intentions were based on race. He could have gone out looking to assault any man (which still would have been wrong) but he chose to focus on race. Another big issue is that the lesson he took from the experience (which he clearly regrets) is that revenge is wrong and pointless, however he doesn't express any specific regret about the fact he was targeting only people of a certain race.

    Get over yourself.

It's tribalism, if it were a white Australian bloke he would have been hanging around the Australian embassy.

Everyone has it to a degree, listen to what John Barnes said, he was spot on ...

When did John Barnes become so articulate and informed? He's a joy to listen to much as he used to be a joy to watch.

Barnes was never your inner city poor uneducated kid.
You do know some footballers can be quite educated and cultured, especially those not hailing from these islands, some of inner cities of Europe, the tough banlieues of France, or parts of Africa.
For instance Giorgio Chiellini, that tough no nonsense Juventus and Italy centre half, has an economics degree and an MBA.
On the other hand Suarez that bit him doesn't.:(
Sure didn't Brian kerr tell the world about the Japanese Inter Milan player that has degree in economics and has written two books.

Barnes' dad, originally from Trinidad and Tobago, had been an officer in Jamaican Army rising to rank of Colonel.
    He had gone through Sandhurst.
His dad was heavily involved in sport and played soccer to quite a good level.
By all accounts his dad was even involved with the famous Jamaican bobsleigh team.

The reason John ended up in England at age 12, was his dad was appointed Defence adviser to the High Commission of Jamaica in London.
And so John ended up playing for Watford.

His mother was no slouch either, she had been a TV and radio presenter and she became a barrister at age 71.
One of his uncles had set up the National Labour party in Jamaica.
So from a line of successful and driven people.
Oh and two of his kids are doctors, one a plastic surgeon.

Imagine he could have played for Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago as well as England.

I am not allowed discuss …

Telling as in making it easier to differentiate when out looking for the perp? If you get robbed and go to the cops, its one of the things you'll get asked more than likely

@jmayo; Yeah perhaps that came across as condescending, it wasn't meant that way. I'm well aware of his history, I just hadn't heard him speak about anything other than football until Liam Neeson's incident.
