Hunting for warhead is by far and away the best "true crime" I've ever listened to. It's about hunting a notorious child porn facilitator on the dark web and how the american authorities tried to catch him. It's a multi part pod, and well worth a few hours.

Love True Crime podcasts, have listened to a few that I've thought was good.

    • S-Town
    • Just started - Black Hands - A family mass murder
    • The Lady Vanishes
    • Wine & Crime
    • Unconcluded
    • Crimetown

Dr. Death is good - there are 3 series, different stories, all compelling (to me at least!)

Missing Magnolias is a great one that's more under the radar.

Do you still listen to it? If so has your opinion changed at all, if not what turned you off?

I've been listening to Murder 101. It's a little different because it's about a teacher who got his secondary students to work on a profile of a killer. I feel it's quite well done.

Up to episode 6 at the moment. 7 came out yesterday.

Over the years, I've listened to a fair few of the long form true crime podcasts, and sampled a few of the "story of the week" type shows, with only a few really standing out as great.

Of the long form series, I'd highly recommend:

Your Own Backyard - This was an amateur podcasters investigation into the disappearance of Kristen Smart in 1996.

Bone Valley - This centres on the potentially wrongful conviction and incarceration of Leo Schofield for the murder of his ex-wife.

To Live and Die in LA - This chronicles an investigation in real time into the disappearance of an aspiring actress named Adea Shabani in 2018.

Of the single episode format podcasts, the only one I'd recommend is DNA: ID. It's about the recent phenomenon of police using forensic genealogy by combing the databases of services like 23 and me, to solve cold cases from decades ago. Each episode is a different case and the host treats the topic with the seriousness you would hope for when dealing with gruesome murders.
