I received a quote of 10,500 Euro including VAT for the following in Dublin.

It includes ground floor rewire, moving light switches and adding sockets to the first floor. The price does not include plastering etc.

The quote is much higher than expected. Any opinions?

I d know if that's a good price or not. It's always a good idea of getting 2 or 3 quotes & going from there.

Indeed, but it's critical to have them all price against the same spec and to remember that cheapest isn't always best.

And remember to have them include things like removing and disposing of all old fittings, offcuts and waste when quoting.

The vast majority of trademen I've encountered are happy to do their work well but leave the place in an absolute state with offcuts and rubbish. Plasterers are the worst offenders.
