    New problem on my S10 Plus. The swipe down menu has stopped working on the home screen. Works fine on the lock screen and when the phone is in landscape mode it works on the home screen, but it will not work in usual portrait mode on the home screen. Tried resetting and still the same issue. Anyone have any ideas or encountered this? Seems to be a software issue.

    Just updated also and now the Fotmob Pro app and Vodafone tv app isn't working. Anyone getting similar issues? Is it possible to uninstall the update?

    They probably haven't updated their apps yet so.

    Not really, afaik, you can only flash a new (older) version back onto it. (Probably factory resetting everything)

    If you wait a few days, the Devs will probably update their apps.

    Is anyone having problems with Google Pay since updating to Android 10?

    It was working fine on my partner's phone until she updated. Now when she goes to use it she gets an error on the phone saying it can't be used.

    Thanks for confirming it's working ok for you. I must take her phone and give it a try and see what the problem is. She's been using it without problems since she got the phone so strange how it's acting up now.

    Any issues with getting this from Amazon.de and using in Ireland with Irish SIM?

    For others, S10 from any European Amazon site will work in Ireland. The only thing is you may get a two-pin plug. But that's no big deal as it is just a plug for a USB cable, so just use provided USB cable in a 3 pin plug.

    I had a system ui message appear in my pull down menu yesterday but I can't seem to get rid of it. I have tried swiping left and right and long holding it but nothing other than muting it for a few hours. Any suggestions how to get rid of it?

    If you press the tabs button and swipe it away does it dissappear?

    No it stays in the pull down and has an icon on the status bar.

    Do you get a gear cog if you drag it to the right or left?

    What is it? If its something that's playing you need to stop it first then swipe.

    It's to do with my sd card. It must have got corrupted and the phone won't write to it now and the notification says it has been set to read only. I just thought I would be able to get rid of the notification until I get a new card from Amazon.

    Yes and it brings me to the System UI app notifications but all but 2 of the toggle buttons are greyed out.

    On a separate note I know there was a menu that allowed you to format the cards but for the life of me I cant find it now, even after googling I don't seem to have the Storage settings menu.

    Edit. I've found the format bit.

    All icons are bigger and clunkier
    Fingerprint Unlock definitely working poorer
    Swiftkey keyboard has this annoying new layout, resulting in lots of half sent or error-ridden messages.

    You can Change the layout of SwiftKey in the app.

    I really like the Swiftkey, so would like to keep it on. Can't figure out in the app how to revert it to when it was before the update (it's as if an extra layer of capability has been added to the bottom of the keyboard, impacting on me typing accurately.

    Anyone else having spouts of severe lag since updating to Android 10? It's very annoying. I haven't installed any apps or anything since I did the update.

    Also noticed that apps don't seem to hold in memory as long and are refreshed more often, which is crappy for a phone with 8gb RAM

    Haven't experienced any lag since the update. Perhaps try a hard reset after backing up your device.

    I had the System UI freeze whilst using the camera. Not sure if it was a bug or what. I did a soft reset and it's been good so far...

    I had that as well. I'm finding bluetooth audio on the Ford Sync hands free poor since the update too. Autocorrect, word suggestions and battery life deems poorer. Note 10+

    My phone has been hot all day. Went go use the camera and it completely froze. Had to do a soft reset which seemed to resolve it but will keep an eye on it.

    I've gone with Spigen for my last couple of phones. Haven't had any damage to them and they've been through the mill. I'd recommend them. Never used a screen protector.

    Try a reinstall maybe? I did look online and there are setting that you can restrict Whatsapp over cellular data, like all apps, but that sounds too obvious a fix.

    I've an S8 which is causing me grief and I see that Samsung are offering a reasonable trade in on an S8 for the S10 range (200 euro discount) and the active watch.

    I need sim free as work pays for the account but not the phone (their phones are crap). Would it be worth waiting for the S20 (s11) to be launched or punt for a S10?

    The S10 range is still excellent, and great value at the moment. The S11/20 is likely to be a bit more expensive, even for the base model, with prices estimated to be something like;

    S20 5G: €900-1000
    S20+ 5G: €1050-1100
    S20 Ultra 5G: €1300

    That's 5G though, and I think they'll have 4G versions too which should be cheaper, so it depends on your appetite to spend money!

    So I gave in and went back to Samsung, picking up an s10 for a descent price from Vodafone, its a damn near perfect phone but there's always a but......wtf is with the pos fingerprint sensor.

    Did you go into Settings> Software Update> Download and Install

    To make sure you're up to the latest firmware? Should be about 1 January 2020

    I use my right thumb and it works for me 99% of the time. Times when it doesn't work. A wipe of my thumb or the screen gets it working on next try.

    I did however take off the factory installed screen protector.

    Have you saved the print more than once?
    I saved mine twice and find it works almost perfectly.

    Fully updated. The factory screen protector is still on but you would expect that not to have an effect with it factory installed by Samsung themselves.

    I just added thumb a second time and it does seem to be a better now, such a job to add it though, loads of press harder and other errors during the process.

    Not really relevant, but apparently the fingerprint sensor on the S20 is 17 times bigger than the S10 and even supports using 2 fingerprints at the same time, for extra security!

    Never had a problem with the fingerprint reader. Unlocks 99% of the time.
